No Justice for Keith Lamont Scott

Officer Brentley Vinson

VIA CNN

Protesters took to the streets of downtown Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday night to show their disappointment with the decision to not charge an officer in the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott.

A two-month investigation determined that Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Officer Brentley Vinson was justified in shooting  Scott in an apartment complex parking lot. Mecklenburg County District Attorney Andrew Murray said he didn’t reach the conclusions alone; a total of 15 prosecutors unanimously agreed with the decision.

The killing led to heated protests and divided the city of Charlotte. Compared to previous demonstrations over Scott’s death, a smaller crowd turned out Wednesday night, about 100 people. At least four people were arrested as police tried to corral protesters off the streets, three for obstructing traffic.

But the protesters’ message was the same as before.
“Stop killing black people,” some protesters’ T-shirts read.
“How to get away with murder: Become a cop,” said the signs.
“If we don’t get no justice then you don’t get no peace,” they chanted.

According to TMZ, Kanye West has checked out of the hospital.

After a little more than a week at UCLA Medical Center, Kanye is reportedly back at his home with his wife Kim Kardashian and their children North and Saint.

West is also under the care of his personal physician Dr. Michael Farzam. This is the same doctor who called 911 the day West was hospitalized on Nov. 21.

West is still recovering from what some have called a “nervous breakdown.” The rapper displayed bizarre behavior, including the cancellation of his “Saint Pablo World Tour” prior to being admitted.

According to the latest report, Kanye is still undergoing psychological and medical treatment.

Let’s continue to keep Yeezy in our prayers.

Vic Mensa Taking a Stand with Standing Rock Sioux Tribe

Vic Mensa  released a video on Facebook, explaining why he’s been protesting in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in the wake of controversy surrounding a potential dangerous pipeline on Native American soil.

“An oil company wants to build the Dakota Access Pipeline and put it through their water source to potentially and most likely contaminate water that services millions of people,” said Mensa.

“Originally,” he added. “The pipeline was supposed to be over by Bismarck, in a different area that’s not Indian country and it’s a white area. What they said was, ‘That’s too risky for their water source so we’re gonna switch it to Indian country.’ We’re not having that. We can’t have that.”

“If you believe in the inalienable rights of people,” he wrote. “The right to clean drinking water, the right to food & shelter and the right to freedom then you have to support standing rock. Get on a plane, drive, take a bus do whatever you have to do.

“December 5th the Army Corps has set an ultimatum for the people camped at standing rock, saying that they will forcibly remove the water protectors,” he added. “When one of our freedom is on the line all of our freedom is on the line. Fight for freedom.”

Vic is using his celebrity to bring light to an issue that is barely being televised or reported on!!

Kanye West was hospitalized in Los Angeles on late Monday following a series of bizarre incidents that ended with him canceling the Saint Pablo Tour.

TMZ is reporting that Yeezy  was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation. According to law enforcement sources, LAPD responded to a medical welfare call about 1:20 p.m. Paramedics ended up transporting Kanye to the hospital by ambulance. He reportedly resisted and had to be restrained when transported.

He was reportedly being examined by one of his doctors for severe sleep deprivation when it was determined that he needed to be admitted. The decision to hospitalize West was for his own health and safety, added the sources. No criminal activity was suspected.

West has been dealing with trauma for years now.  Let’s not forget the tragic car accident that he was involved in that almost took his life.  He managed to escape the wreckage with some broken bones and a broken jaw.  Several years later he lost his most prized possession since his children and Kim, his beloved mother Donda West.   Even recently dealing with the robbery of his wife and media frenzy that ensued.  This man needs medical attention he has been through a lot.  It’s not the time to bash and harass but to lift him up and pray for a clearly broken person.

Frank Ocean Opens up in the New York Times

Frank Ocean rarely does interviews and when he does it always is a must read.  Mr. Ocean has a very eclectic way of thinking and operates differently than a lot of artists in the game.   He recently sat down with the New York Times for an exclusive interview.

Check out a few excerpts below:

On His Professional Struggles Post Channel Orange:

It started to weigh on me that I was responsible for the moves that had made me successful, but I wasn’t reaping the lion’s share of the profits, and that was problematic for me.

I had, in the midst of all of this, this feeling of isolation Within my circle, there was a lot of places I thought I could turn that I felt like I couldn’t turn to anymore.

On Abruptly Leaving LA For London — With Just A Duffel Bag, A Hard drive Of Music, & Few Contacts:

I never thought about it [being anything to do with my sanity or escapism]. I always thought about it like, if your house is on fire, you need to get out of the house.

On Being Unprepared For Certain Gigs:

Certain moments were drawbacks for sure. Now I look at things differently, but at the time, yeah. Audiences in excess of five million people [on national TV]. I was always reluctant to do those things except in cases where they had this nostalgic significance to me. Like performing at the V.M.A.s, being tapped to perform at the Grammys — me saying yes to those things had a lot to do with how those things made me feel before I was actually in the business. And just wanting to be rubbing shoulders with those people and being seen at those places. I still was reluctant and sort of skeptical of those things because I questioned whether or not I was prepared.

On Dealing With Fame:

Sometimes I’m fascinated with how famous my work could be while I’m not so famous. Super-envious of the fact that Daft Punk can wear robot helmets and be one of the most famous bands in the world, while also understanding that will never be my situation. It’s too late. It’s hard to articulate how I think about myself as a public figure. I’ve gotten used to being Frank Ocean. A lot of people stopped me on the street when I hadn’t put music out in a while, literally would yell out of an Uber, “Frank, where the album?”

On Whether He’s Been In Love Since ‘Channel Orange’:

Not the lasting kind.

On Whether Fame Has Made Dating Any Different:

I think normal would be the word, whatever that word means, which is usually nothing. I’m in a very different place than I was four or five years ago with all that stuff. Different in my relationship with myself, which means everything. There’s no, like, shame or self-loathing. There’s no, you know, crisis.

On Monitoring His Record Sales:

I know exactly what the numbers are. I need to know. I need to know how many records I’ve sold, how many album equivalents from streaming, which territories are playing my music more than others, because it helps me in conversations about where we’re gonna be playing shows, or where I might open a retail location, like a pop-up store or something.

On If He Thinks His Numbers Add Up The Way They Should:

Well, we doubled ‘Channel Orange’ first week. I’m always gonna be like, “We could have done a little bit better.” I guess there’s a satisfaction that comes with looking at numbers like that, and I’m making, like, No Limit-type of equity, Master P-type of equity on my record.
