MICHAEL VICK GETS FIRST ENDORSEMENT DEAL POST PRISON

Michael Vick’s comeback continues — all the way to the bank. The Philadelphia Eagles QB has inked a two-year endorsement deal with Unequal Technologies, a producer of the protective pads worn in football games. The deal will be publicly announced today, according to the company.

“We’re real excited about it,” the company’s chief executive officer Rob Vito said. “Michael is good people. He paid his dues. President Obama reached out to him. He deserves an opportunity. This is what makes America so great. He’s moved forward. He’s a whole other person. “We believe it was worth it because of Michael Vick and how he can shed light on the technology of our products,” Vito said.

Vick said in a statement that “Unequal’s protective power gives me a whole new level of confidence in my game. It makes me feel invincible.” A large number of businesses, including Nike, had cut ties with the controversial athlete following his 2007 conviction for participating in a dog fighting ring, for which he served 18 months in federal prison. Vick, who made $5.2 million this past season with the Eagles, was a scoring machine in his comeback 2010 season, passing 22 touchdowns and running for another 10.

BRETT FARVE FINED $50,000 IN SEXTING SCANDAL

Brett Favre will have to pay a $50,000 fine for his role in a sexually orientated text messaging scandal. The Minnesota Viking was fined for “failure to cooperate” with the investigation into inappropriate messages and lewd photos he reportedly sent to former New York Jets game-day hostess Jenn Sterger.  He has not been suspended.  Commissioner Roger Goodell “could not conclude that Favre violated the league’s personal conduct policy but issued this citation instead.

A statement says that Goodell determined Favre was “not candid in several respects during the investigation resulting in a longer review and additional negative public attention for Favre, (Jenn) Sterger and the NFL.”  The league’s investigation of Favre began in October.  Favre was ousted for reportedly sending Sterger inappropriate pictures and text messages two years ago when they were both with the Jets.

Will Smith, Mark Wahlberg Offered $1M to Fight Each Other

A boxing promoter is reportedly offering Will Smith and Mark Wahlberg $1 million to face-off in the ring on Feb. 26 in Las Vegas.

The theme: a match between two movie-trained boxers – Smith for “Ali” and Wahlberg for “The Fighter.”

Damon Feldman of the Hollywood Boxing Federation has successfully organized “celebrity” matches in the past… celebrity meaning Danny Bonaduce vs. Michael Lohan and Ricky Gervais vs. Grant Bovey. But Feldman stresses all proceeds would go to Smith and Wahlberg’s charities of choice.

“This will be a great opportunity for both stars to fight in the Superbowl of Hollywood boxing and to donate millions to their favorite charities,” Feldman told RadarOnline.com. “It would be a great event too. Can you imagine?”

Both are also around the same age – Smith is 42 and Wahlberg 39. Smith is 6ft 2in and appeared as a heavyweight in” Ali,” while Wahlberg is 5ft 9in and is a welterweight in “The Fighter.”

Feldman said the actors would only be required to fight three one-minute rounds.

“We don’t think these two are going to rip each other’s heads off,” Feldman said. “We’re just hoping they get into the ring and have a little fun duking it out.”

The fight, if Smith and Wahlberg agree to it, would take place in Las Vegas on Feb. 26, 2011.

McNabb on Benching: ‘Everything was Handled Awkwardly’

Donovan McNabb is speaking out for the first time since he was benched by Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan for the remainder of the season.

The veteran quarterback told DC’s ESPN980 earlier today that he felt disrespected by the way the whole thing went down.

“Everything was handled awkwardly,” McNabb said Tuesday on his weekly radio show, “somewhat a disrespect to me and to the team.”

McNabb said he strongly disagreed with the decision to bench him, but he has a bigger problem with the way he says the organization leaked the news to the media before informing him.

“Because of the timing and because of all the leaks and everything that was put out there, and no putting out the fire, so to speak,” McNabb said, “I’m hearing everything through the media.”

Shanahan waited until Thursday evening to tell McNabb that Rex Grossman would be the starter for the rest of the season, even though rumblings of a possible switch had been circulating all week.

“I was pulled back by it. All of a sudden you get this news a couple of days before the game, you do feel somewhat disrespected,” McNabb said. “You could have told me earlier or at least prepared me for it. … The term I did use was professional. You would like to hear it early, and if you hear it late, it kind of throws off the preparation for a lot of guys.”

MIKE VICK LEADS ALL PLAYERS FOR PRO-BOWL SPOT

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback leads all players in voting by fans, and said he’s grateful for the support as he revives his career after losing everything as a result of his participation in a dogfighting operation.

“It’s a credit to everything I’ve tried to accomplish on and off the field, just working as hard as I can to change things around and be a part of the solution and not the problem,” said Vick. “I’ve changed my life. So anybody can do it.

“It was an unfortunate situation in the past and I wish I could go back and change it all. I wish I could take it all back, but I can’t. The only thing I can do is move forward.”

Vick has almost 730,000 votes and leads Indianapolis quarterback Peyton Manning by almost 40,000 votes. Fan voting ends Dec. 20, and will be combined with player and coach voting to select the team.

The 20,000 square foot, 3-story home boasts beautiful  views of Biscayne Bay, and includes a home theater, a guest house, and other amenities, in addition to 6 bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms. The grounds also have three fountains and room for two 60-foot yachts to dock.

JACKIE GARCIA, SEAN TAYLOR’s FIANCEE GETS MARRIED TO SHAY HAYLEY FROM N.E.R.D

After 3 years of the tragedy, Jackie Garcia, the former girlfriend of murdered NFL star Sean Taylor has married Shay Haley in a private ceremony in Miami on Saturday night. Shay’s bandmate, Lead singer of the rock and hip-hop band Pharrell Williams was on hand for the event — and even had a dance with the blushing bride. Chris Brown performed during the reception.

It’s been a long road for Jackie — who was with Taylor on the night home invaders shot the former Washington Redskins player in their Florida mansion while their 18-month-old daughter was in the room.

The wedding comes three years after Taylor’s death. Garcia was with Taylor when intruders entered their Florida home and shot the former Washington Redskins player.

Vick & Eagles Deliver 59-28 BEATING to McNabb & Redskins

Last nights game between Philly and Washington, was a complete disaster for the Redskins.  As a die hard fan, I was totally disgusted in how we played last night.  However, Vick did his thing!! He played like a true Pro. It was exciting to see him at his best, because so many counted him out.  Unfortunately, it was against my home team the Redskins.

In fact, in the 90 year history of the NFL, before last night, no player had ever done what Vick did, accumulating at least 300 yards passing, 50 yards rushing, four passing TDs and two rushing TDs in one game.

It comes down to this. In the wake of former Eagles quarterback, Donovan McNabb’s $78 million dollar, 5 year extension with the Redskins, we’re thinking hey, the wrong guy got the money.

Allen Iverson Makes his Turkish Debut!!

*Former NBA All-Star Allen Iverson’s debut with Turkish basketball league team Besiktas has been postponed.

Team manager Murat Murtezaoglu told The Associated Press the 11-time NBA All-Star “did not feel ready” to play Friday and instead watched from the stands as his new team beat Oyak Renault 87-81.

Murtezaoglu said he expects Iverson to make his debut at Besiktas’ European Cup home game against Hemofarm Stada on Tuesday.

Iverson agreed to a $4 million, two-year contract with Besiktas after no NBA team offered him a contract for the season.

Iverson is 17th on the NBA’s career scoring list with 24,368 points in a 14-year career with Philadelphia, Denver, Detroit and Memphis. He won the league’s Most Valuable Player award in 2001.
