Allen Iverson Wants Estranged Wife Locked Up

Allen Iverson and his estranged wife Tawanna’s messy divorce is getting messier. Allen just accused Tawanna of burglarizing his home and he wants her arrested.  Allen had been in Asia playing basketball and says he came home to an empty house courtesy of Tawnana. Furniture, art work, money, everything gone.

Last December Tawanna accused Allen of emptying their bank account and starving her and the kids, so maybe this his payback?  However, Allen has asked a judge to hold Tawanna in contempt for harassing him and to lock her up until she returns his stuff.

A ruling has not been made.

Allen Iverson Returns: Former 76ers Star Delivers Game Ball

Before the 76ers and Celtics took the floor in Philadelphia for Game 6 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series, Allen Iverson slipped into a home jersey. However, his familiar No. 3 wasn’t stitched on the crisp white uniform. Nor was it his name on the back. The 36-year-old was sporting a replica jersey at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night, bearing the name and number of Sixers guard Lou Williams, who wasn’t yet in high school when Iverson earned NBA MVP honors for his dominance during the 2000-01 season.

The 11-time NBA All-Star and four-time scoring champ watched from a suite as the 76ers attacked the rim with what could perhaps best be described as Iverson tenacity (42 points in the paint) and staved off elimination with a 82-75 win.

Good Deeds in the NFL: Coach Greg Schiano Signs Paralyzed Eric LeGrand

Greg Schiano has been the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach for just three months. And you are already seeing why Rutgers fans wish he stayed.

On October 16, 2010, Rutgers defensive tackle Eric LeGrand was on the field for a kickoff return against Army. During the play, LeGrand suffered a serious neck injury that left him paralyzed from the neck down. That was the last football play of his career. His coach at the time was Greg Schiano.

Coach Schiano and the Buccaneers signed paralyzed defensive tackle Eric LeGrand. It was a symbolic and generous gesture from Schiano to his former player. Signing LeGrand was yet another example that shows what kind of a man Schiano is.

In the past 12 months, we have seen plenty of bad news in football. There were NCAA violations at Ohio State. An alleged sex abuse scandal surfaced at Penn State. The NFL punished the New Orleans Saints for their bounty program. And today, former NFL great Junior Seau was found dead from a suspected suicide.

The NFL needed some good news. Coach Schiano provided some. He brought a little honor and integrity back into the league. He should be admired and respected for repeatedly supporting his former player. Even with his fresh start in Tampa Bay, Schiano did not forget LeGrand. He remains loyal to him. He continues to help LeGrand in his time of need.

Schiano’s simple gesture sends strong messages. To his players it says, “play for me and I’ll be there for you.” To everyone else it says, “remember the important things in life.” What you see is what you get with Schiano. And I have seen a lot of good.

I’ve already stated why I think Coach Schiano will be a great head coach for the Buccaneers. The season hasn’t even started and you are already seeing why. Even if Schiano never wins a Super Bowl, he will always be a winner in my eyes. He will continue to be a great example for his players. He will win the right way. Schiano is exactly what the NFL needs right now.

Derrick Rose Suffers Season Ending Injury in Opening Playoff Game

Derrick Rose crumbled to the floor, clutching his left knee. His season is over and the Chicago Bulls‘ title hopes might be finished too.

Rose will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee late in Chicago’s 103-91 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in Saturday’s playoff opener at Chicago, casting a big cloud over a team eyeing a championship run.

He scored 23 points and was playing more like the league’s reigning MVP after missing 27 games because of injuries during the regular season, but his season came to an end as the Bulls were wrapping up an impressive victory.

50 Cent To Accompany Floyd Mayweather To The Ring; 50 Compares Floyd To Ali

Rap star 50 Cent will accompany Floyd Mayweather to the ring during his highly anticipated Pay-Per-View  “Ring Kings: Mayweather vs. Cotto,” a 12-round fight for scheduled for May 5th.

According to Floyd, 50 Cent will walk to the ring with Floyd and perform prior to his championship bout with Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“He’s a part of Mayweather Promotions. Come May 5th he will be performing and walk me to the ring,” Floyd said in a conference call with numerous media outlets.  “He’s  not just my best friend he’s also one my business partners. And one of the smartest guys I know.”

According to Floyd, he and 50 Cent have a bond that goes beyond music – the  pair are also planning a business venture together that could lead to 50 Cent promoting fights.

“We may even let him fight on Pay-Per-view one time, we don’t what the future holds, but he is getting involved with boxing.

During an interview with ESNewsReporting, Floyd’s close friend 50 Cent discussed the boxing champ’s impact on the sport of boxing.

“I think he’s the Muhammad Ali of our time,” 50 Cent said. “I think he’s the Muhammad Ali of our generation. The difference is the actual messaging points.

“In that period of time, Muhammad Ali was part of a huge movement that actually socially made him someone different,” 50 continued. “Without those issues going on, it’s tough for anyone to be near comparison to him. But Hip-Hop culture is now Pop culture. It’s so broad that there’s not anyone who’s not a part of the culture now. If you watch the artists and how many people he is relevant to and compare it to that, he [Floyd Mayweather] actually is boxing right now.”

Meta World Peace Suspended from the NBA

Meta World Peace has been suspended from the NBA for that non peaceful elbow to the head he dished out earlier this week.  Last Sunday LA Laker Meta World Peace elbowed Oklahoma City Thunder James Harden in the head during what Meta World called an overly exuberant celebration of a slam dunk. The league didn’t buy Meta’s excuse and he’s been suspended for 6 games. Meta World stands to lose close to $350,000 in salary. In an apology posted on Ron Artest.com Meta World writes, “I apologize to the Oklahoma City Thunder fans and the OKC organization. I look foward (sic) to getting back on the floor with my teammates and competing for the Lakers fans.”

Who Knew!! NFL’s Brandon Marshall Opens Up about his Borderline Personality Disorder

VIA Chicago Sun Times

Brandon Marshall, who suffers from  a personality disorder, is speaking out about his condition. Pro Bowl receiver Larry Fitzgerald tells the  Chicago Sun Times in a recent interview:

‘‘I have only had positive experiences with Brandon.  He is misunderstood. Once you get to know him, he will give you the shirt off his back. ‘‘My thing is this: Get to know him, the man, before you pass judgment.’’

Now Brandon is revealing what’s gotten him into so many altercations over the years…borderline personality disorder.  He says,

‘‘A lot of people are afraid to talk about it — it’s taboo in our communities.  But I’m willing to use myself, make myself and my family vulnerable, to break the stigmas.’’

And in an interesting footnote, Brandon added that a large number of prison inmates, both male and female, have been diagnosed with the disorder.

“Since I’ve been in the league, things have been very rough for me.  From Day 1, I’ve always wanted better for myself, on and off the field. To finally get an answer — to finally be in a place where someone can help me — that was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. But it was scary because someone is telling you, ‘Hey, you have to go through this therapy. You have to stay up here and talk to me.’ But the outcome was amazing.’’

Now Brandon looks at his disorder with a different light.  He says his anger was,  ‘‘my gift and my curse, because without that passion, without that intense approach to the game, which comes from a lot of my pain, a lot of my anger, I wouldn’t be here today.’’

Although Brandon now has his diagnosis under control, some others aren’t so lucky.

‘‘This thing is bigger than me. We’re losing lives.  When I was in treatment, there was a young lady who took her life. ‘It’s one of the most devastating disorders out there, but it’s the most treatable, and with the proper help and the proper treatment, we can make a huge impact in our community.’’

Brandon has now focused on using his fame as a way to help those who are lost.

‘‘There’s a lot of people who are pushing to get healing in our community.  I’m just the guy with the fame, so it brings light to it quicker, and it spreads faster. So that’s why I was excited to use my celebrity and platform to raise awareness.’’

**Very interesting we we’re just discussing personality disorders in my Psychopathology class this past Wednesday.

Patriots Cut Player Hours Before Super Bowl

In what many are calling a heartless business move, the New England Patriots cut wide receiver Tiquan Underwoodjust a day before playing in the Super Bowl. This is the third time this year Underwood had been cut from the team.

There were no disciplinary reasons from the move, the Patriots wanted to make room on the roster for Defensive End Alex Silvestro.

To his credit, Underwood was a class act in his reaction to the move, stating on his Twitter page that he was still cheering for The Patriots.

“Good Luck To The New England Organization, The Coaches, & All My Teammates… #PatsNation,” he wrote. “THANK YOU Everyone For Your Support & Sympathy. Im Fine, This Will Only Make Me Stronger…Tough Times Never Last But Tough Ppl Do #TeamWood.”

Underwood was third on the New England depth chart behind Chad Ochocinco and had three catches for 30 yards on the season.

50 Cent Speaks on Million-Dollar Super Bowl Bet

50 Cent is betting big on the New York Giants.  Backstage at the Bud Light Hotel in Indianapolis during Super Bowl weekend, the hip-hop tycoon spoke to Yahoo! about the million-dollar wager on his home town.

Baby had said he had $5 million on the Patriots,” 50 said in response to the Cash Money CEO’s proposed bet on New England.  “I just think he was just passionate about the Patriots winning and just said that. I don’t think he actually would bet $5 million.”

The G-Unit captain banked $500,000 when the Giants defeated the 49ers in the playoffs.  “It would just be risking what I won the first time,” he explained.

But one bet he won’t be taking is posing nude on Twitter if the Giants lose, which one fan suggested.  “No. This is what happens on my Twitter,” he said.  “When people say really crazy things, I say, ‘OK.’ I don’t say anything else. I just say, ‘OK’ so my fans can see the crazy things people say to me because they don’t pay attention to what they’re saying.  They only pay attention to my response.”
