DC Sniper Story Comes To The Big Screen in “Blue Caprice” (Video Trailer)

It was only a matter of time before the DC Sniper attacks would hit the big screen.  There was a made for TV movie a few years ago, but this feature film seems to dig a bit deeper into the lives and mind of John Mohammed and Lee Boyd Malvo.  “Blue Caprice,” features actor Isaiah Washington as John Muhammed and Tequan Richmond from “Everybody Hates Chris,” as Lee Boyd Malvo.  I will never forget the tense moments that the DMV experienced.  I was finishing up my Bachelor’s degree at Marymount University in Alexandria, and was on pins and needles as the snipers were killing people up and down 495, from Georgia Ave to Seven Corners. No one knew when the next shooting would occur.  This will be a interesting movie to see especially for all of us who actually lived through this ordeal.

Meek Mill Shows Off His Acting Chops on Upcoming World Premiere BET Film “Streets”

Tonight, August 28 at 10PM, Maybach Music Group recording artist Meek Mill makes his BET Network movie debut in Streets. Meek, who plays himself in the film, stars alongside Nafeesa Williams (Nicole Gordon) and Marvin Warner (Michael Butler).

The story follows Nicole, whose recently divorced mother takes a high profile job with Philadelphia’s District Attorney. Nicole is accidentally swept into a world which places her on the other side of her mother’s new career. Meek is not only the most successful recording artist in the city; he also has the streets at his will – too bad he can’t say the same thing for his crew.

Streets was written and directed by Jamal Hill. Early on in his career, his directing skills were brought to the attention of Will Smith. That connection led to Hill interning at Overbrook Entertainment and landing blockbuster movie credits on “I Am Legend”, “Hancock”, and “Iron Man”.

“This is my Philly version of Menace 2 Society,” Hill said of his film. “I’m proud of the fanfare ‘Streets’ built over the past year. The cast did an excellent job. Meek Mill showed exceptional talent across the board.”

Jada Pinkett Smith Talks ‘Annie’ Remake with Willow Smith and Jay-Z

Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett announced last year that they were partnering with Jay-Z to develop and produce a remake of the 1982 musical Annie.  The film will star their 11-year-old daughter Willow, with Jay-Z handling musical duties.

“We’re partnering with Jay-Z and Roc Nation as far as Annie is concerned.  Willow’s going to star,” Jada told Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb during her appearance on the “Today” show.

The couple’s son Jaden previously starred in a remake of The Karate Kid.  “We had success with Jaden with Karate Kid,” she added.  “That was a film that Will and I both loved.  We were like, ‘We have got to bring justice to this movie.’”

They plan to do the same for Annie.  “Annie’s a classic.  We are taking our time to make sure the script is right and you know Jay-Z’s gonna kill the music.”
