Big Brother Always Watching: Cee Lo Green Spotted Eating Fried Chicken After Committing to eDiet Deal

Rapper/singer Cee Lo Green was seen eating some fried chicken after announcing his commitment to lose 50lbs.

Everyone knows you should never make a promise you can’t keep. Apparently, singer/rapper Cee-Lo Green has made a promise to lose 50lbs that he probably won’t be able to keep. Landing a weight-loss endorsement deal with eDiet just two weeks ago, paparazzi caught the star chewing into some fried chicken at ElPollo Loco fast food restaurant in Los Angeles.

In the final week of 2012, Cee Lo stated his focus on fitness for 2013 via Twitter and in an official statement: “With the strenuous rehearsals and big production of my upcoming Vegas residency, Loberace, kicking off in February, I’ve personally committed to making health a habit in the New Year. When I decided to make this commitment to myself, I needed a program that would work with my nonstop lifestyle, and eDiets has made it easy and convenient to make health a priority between recording new music, constant traveling and being a father.

Prior to his announcement of his partnership with eDiet, his daily diet (composed of fatty foods and alcohol was released via The Smoking Gun. According to the website, the star requires ‘a rotating feast of rib-eye steaks, chicken, and fish (tilapia, trout, tuna steaks, and mahi-mahi).’  The menu changes throughout the week, but daily ’24 fried jumbo prawns and 24 sauteed jumbo prawns’ are to be delivered to his dressing room. ’Staples include mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy, baked lobster macaroni & cheese, and baked butter covered dinner rolls,’ according to the website. A baked potato pie is delivered on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and a peach cobbler on the remaining three days of the week.’ So now we all see why it’s critically important that he gets serious about this diet before his eating habits get the best of him.

Being Overweight Linked to Longer Life???

Being overweight may lead to a longer life, according to a review of more than 100 research papers.

According to new research this week in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), researchers say that being overweight may lead to a longer life.

The somewhat surprising conclusion comes from an enormous, detailed review of over 100 previously published research papers connecting body weight and mortality risk among 2.88 million study participants living around the world.

The new research confirms that obese people, and particularly those who are extremely obese, tend to die earlier than those of normal weight. But the findings also suggest that people who are overweight (but not obese) may live longer than people with clinically normal body weight. The new report is the largest and most comprehensive review of how weight, measured as body mass index (BMI) a measure comparing the ratio of height to weight, can influence longevity. Previous studies that have exposed the link in the past, however, have raised questions about whether the overweight advantage is real.

“We published an article in 2005 that showed, among other things, that (being) overweight was associated with lower mortality — and we got an awful lot of negative feedback from that,” says the current study’s lead author, Katherine Flegal, a senior research scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Since that study, however, dozens of others have reached the same conclusion — even if it was hard for researchers and the public to accept.

Starbucks Introduces $1 Reusable Cups

In a bid to get its customers to stop using disposables, Seattle coffee giant Starbucks is planning to roll out a $1 reusable tumbler.

The reusable plastic tumblers will be made to look like its paper counterparts, have interior lines to denote a “tall” or “grande” size drink, and bear the brand’s logo.

When customers use the reusable cup, they’ll be given a dime discount—which means that after 10 uses, the cup pays for itself.

Starbucks has long sold reusable tumblers; however, the company hopes that the lower price of its new China-made cups would prompt change.  Starbucks will start selling these $1 plastic cups at all its company-owned stores in the US and Canada.

Ten States In 2013 Are Scheduled To Raise Minimum Wage

 mcdonalds

Ten states raised their minimum wage at the start of 2013.

On Tuesday, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington raised wages between 10 and 35 cents.

The increase will put an extra $190 to $510 per year into the pocket of the average minimum-wage worker, according to Reuters.

African-Americans make up about 15.1 percent of the 73.9 million minimum wage earners in America.

A study by National Employment Law Project released last month reported that the wage increase for the ten states will affect pay for 995,000 American workers.

FACT: Cardio Burns More Fat than Weight Lifting

Cardio burns more fat than weight lifting

If you want to burn fat and lose weight, aerobic exercise may be your best workout option, according to a study in the Journal of Applied Physiology.

It was more effective than a weight-lifting routine, and about as beneficial as workouts combining cardio and strength training, researchers found.

“If a person is going to give me three hours of exercise a week, the most effective way to lose fat is to spend that time doing aerobic training,” says lead study author Leslie Willis, an exercise physiologist at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

If you lift weights, this doesn’t mean you should stop, but if your time is limited and your main goal from exercise is to lose weight, cardio may be better than weight training, according to Willis.

New Year’s Resolutions You’ll Want to Keep

  1. Fill the plate with colorful vegetables
There are many more vegetables to try than just lettuce and tomatoes! Bright-colored and dark green leafy vegetables are especially loaded with vitamins and antioxidants. They are also high in fiber, which makes them very filling. In addition, they are low in calories – good to help trim waistline. When you fill up your stomach with veggies, they will be less likely to feel the urge to binge on other high-fat or processed foods.
  2. Snack on fruits – fresh or dried
When feel like snacking, grap a fruit instead of chips or cookies. Like vegetables, fruits are high in antioxidants and fiber and low in calories. To make it fun, use yogurt or hummus as a dip. This way your’ll get some calcium as well as protein – which helps feel full longer. And don’t forget about dried fruits. Mixing them with whole-wheat breakfast cereal and nuts makes a nutritious school snack.
  3. Look for alternatives to processed meat
Instead of always packing sodium-loaded processed ham sandwiches, try using leftover high-quality protein from the night before. How does a grilled fish burger, teriyaki chicken breast sandwich sound to you? These protein alternatives are usually nitrate-free and more heart health friendly.
  4. Choose whole grains
Whole grains got their well-deserved attention since 2005 when the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans publicly recommend eating at least 3 servings of whole grains every day. Not only are they high in fiber, whole grains also contain an array of antioxidants not found in fruits and vegetables. The easiest way to increase whole grain intake is to replace some of your refined-grain products. For instance, use whole-grain bread instead of white bread when making lunch sandwiches. Substitute half the white flour with whole wheat flour in your regular recipes for cookies, muffins, and pancakes. Toss brown rice, wild rice, or barley in your vegetable soup. Or snack on popcorn instead of chips on family movie nights. (Yes, popcorn is a whole grain!) Don’t forget, you don’t need to completely wipe out all refined grains. You can always try serving half whole wheat/half refined as a starting point.  In United States, check out Oldways for resources on the benefits of a plant-based diet with lots of legumes and whole grains.  In Canada, check out the new non-profit organization ,Healthy Grains Institute, for their consumer resources on the health benefits of whole grains.
  5. Un-HPF
In Gloria Tsang’s book, Go UnDiet: 50 Small Actions for Lasting Weight Loss, I called out highly processed foods (HPFs) as the true culprit for obesity, not carb, gluten, or meat! Frozen fish sticks have almost 12 times more fat than natural fish fillet; chicken nuggets have 4 times more fat than chicken tenders! You can easily chow down a bag of chips or a chocolate candy bar with 300 calories; 300 calories is what’s in a lunch size 6-inch sub sandwich! So, stay clear from HPFs and start eating wholesome, natural foods instead.

For its campaign with Beyonce next year, Pepsi doesn’t just want to sign up the telegenic pop star for another TV commercial. It also wants to get into the Beyoncé business.  A limited edition Pepsi can developed in partnership between the beverage company and Beyoncé will first be seen in Europe in March 2013.

In an expansion of the recent marketing experiments that have brought PepsiCo ever closer to the music industry, the company has embarked on a hybrid project with Beyoncé that will include standard advertising like commercials as well as a multimillion-dollar fund to support the singer’s chosen creative projects.

“Pepsi embraces creativity and understands that artists evolve,” Beyoncé said in a statement. “As a businesswoman, this allows me to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing my creativity.”

The campaign will coincide with a blitz of promotion for her next album, which has no title or release date so far but is expected in 2013. Sometime after she performs at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 3 (also sponsored by Pepsi), Beyoncé will appear in a new TV ad — her fifth for the soft drink since 2002 — and her face will be on a limited-edition line of soda cans.

Tami Roman Drops the Weight

According to her blog, Tami Roman decided to turn to the diet pill ‘NV’ to help her lose weight and ended up dropping two sizes and 12 pounds in two weeks.  She’s now chronicling  her journey on her website  in hopes of encouraging others. She writes:

I’m really big on research and when I decided to use a weight loss product, I read reviews on all the hot market items. I opted for NV for the following reason ONLY…When you read the above the line in diet/ appetite suppressants, most of them have caffeine. What I liked about NV was that even though they have caffeine in them, that is NOT their focus.[…]I used as directed and lost 5lbs in seven days. Most importantly, I lost inches, especially around my waist area. During week two, I incorporated the NV Sprinkles along with the supplements, walked 15 minutes per day and lost an additional 7lbs.  My target is to lose a total of 25 lbs in weight.  And, so far, I have gone from a size 12/14 to a size 8/10 in 14 days! YAY!

I am really excited about what is happening in my life health wise. Besides walking 15 minutes a day, I drink 64oz of water daily and have started to eat more healthy, but that is a process LOL. I love my oxtails, beef patties and red velvet cheesecake. It’s a journey, but so far I’m excited about the outcome.

Dirty Dog Diaries!!! Married Pastor Arrested After Allegedly Passing HIV To Women in His Church

VIA Blackbluedog.com

Dr. Boyce Watkins

Pastor Craig Lamar Davis looks like any other healthy, happy, heterosexual pastor with good family values.  He was once a preacher at the Full Gospel Baptist Church in Atlanta and a pillar of leadership in the community.  Also, like a lot of men at the front of the church, the pastor had a thing for the ladies.

Another thing you might want to know about Davis, according to authorities, is that the pastor is HIV positive.  He also didn’t seem to care who else became HIV positive after he slept with them.

The pastor was arrested for reckless conduct after police found that he was sleeping with several women with whom he was not married.  A woman by the name of Ronita McAfee says that she met the pastor on Facebook and began sleeping with him.

Ronita says that she became concerned when one of the pastor’s ex-girlfriends called to say that she had HIV.  She claims that the pastor then counseled her (presumably leaning on the word of the good “lawud”) and told her to get tested.   McAfee then says that she believed that, based on her observations, the pastor himself was not interested in getting treatment or changing his sexual behavior, in spite of his status.  This is what prompted her to seek out a warrant for his arrest.

Ronita is, by our best guess, the first person to file for the arrest of someone who was found to be having unprotected sex in Clayton County, GA while knowing that he is HIV-positive.  McAfee says that when the investigation began, another woman in the church leadership stepped forward with her confession about interacting with Davis.  The woman even claimed that she’d been celibate for 15 years before meeting him.  She too is HIV positive.
