Earlier this week news leaked that Nicki Minaj rebounded from her break-up with Safaree Samuels into the arms of rapper Meek Mill.

Meek Mill has been consoling Nicki as she went through her roller coaster of a relationship with Safaree. Meek Mill had a song K. Michelle liked, used, and then he kind of snatched it back and gave it to Nicki so she could use it as a bonus track on her album that drops Monday. Got it? Well, there’s more…

K. Michelle’s “Anybody Wanna Buy A heart” album dropped this past Tuesday. Do you know what else dropped? Nicki’s new song with Meek Mill titled “Big Daddy”. At this point K. Michelle took Nicki releasing the song as subliminal a shot towards her and ends up allegedly leaking to blogs that Meek and Nicki are an item.

So now the secret is out. Yes, Nicki and Meek are whatever they are and he even bought her a very expensive piece of jewelry for her birthday. As far as Safaree, he recently followed both K. Michelle and Iggy Azalea on Instagram but likely unfollowed when he realized Nicki didn’t really care.

D'Angelo's 'Black Messiah' Album Finally Drops: First Listen

After 14 years without a full-length album, D’Angelo’s Black Messiah was released Sunday (Dec. 14) just before midnight. The 12-track set is available via iTunes.

Black Messiah is soul and funk pushed to its very limit, the sound of a singer squeezing and warping the tropes of R&B in his effort to wring every ounce of meaning from them. D’Angelo and Questlove are noted fans of the hip-hop producer J Dilla; Questlove has fondly described his beats as “drunk” on several occasions. It’s hard to imagine beats more intoxicated than those on Black Messiah. The drums land like gun shots, sharp, weighty, and staggered. The bass is full and heavy but always dexterous, reaching back to the work of soul and funk legends — except their bass lines were never as pronounced and in your face. The low end here is violent, a force to be reckoned with.

Nicki Minaj dropped her spanking new video for her latest single “Only,” f/ Chris Brown, Drake, and Lil Wayne in the middle of the night.  Nicki shows of her sex appeal like no other in the dark, underground world themed video.  She plays a sexy rap dominatrix ready to dominate and conquer.

Due December 15, The Pinkprint also features Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Jessie Ware, Meek Mill, and more.

Nicki will appear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Real” next week to promote the album.

Method Behind the Madness: 

“This week I wanted to do a song that was more of an anthem than anything else. I wanted to make sure the hook was catchy and something that listeners could ride to. These type of song aren’t very hard to make. You just have to keep in mind, when making these type of songs, that the listener is always right as opposed to when making a song that’s more concept based. So there’s a lot of catering involved in the process. This is also my first time using Autotune so I hope I did pretty okay with that.”

Nicki Minaj was the musical guest on last night’s episode of “Saturday Night Live”, starring James Franco. She performed three songs off her forthcoming album The Pinkprint–“Only”, “All Things Go”, and “Bed of Lies” featuring Skylar Grey. She also appeared in a couple sketches—one as Beyoncé, another as Kim Kardashian.

Chris Brown and Karrueche’s breakup has played out on Instagram. The couple, who broke up sometime during this past week, has engaged in a nasty exchange and revealed some intimate details about their relationship.

On Friday, Breezy announced that he was single during Power 106′s Cali Christmas concert. Karrueche fired back, writing:

But that was only the beginning. On Saturday afternoon, Karrueche shared more insight into the breakup:

“Once you find strength within yourself, it’s hard to allow any type of bs around you. I refuse to be repeatedly mistreated especially by someone who claims to love me. That’s not love. And if that’s what you define as love then I don’t want it. Yes, I have not been so smart before in the past but I made a promise to be a better and stronger woman and I’m keeping that promise. Chris posted (and later deleted) a long message on Instagram calling out his ex for only visiting him once while he was in jail. Instead, he claims that she was taking secret trips to Toronto to go on dates with Drake. According to him, Karrueche also agreed to participate in threesomes.“That ride or die act we have been fooling the world with obviously ain’t working,” said Breezy.

After fallouts with Tyga, Busta Rhymes, and Mystikal, YMCMB’s all-star Lil Wayne has publicly declared that he wants off Birdman and Slim’s label.

In a series of candid tweets on Thursday, Weezy revealed that his long-awaited album Tha Carter V, which was due December 9th, won’t be released because Birdman and Cash Money refuse to put it out.

He claims that he’s been a “prisoner” and apologized to his fans for making them wait.

Kelly Rowland’s Mom Passes Away

Doris Rowland Garrison, mother of singer-songwriter Kelly Rowland, has passed away at age 66.

“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Doris Rowland Garrison,” Kelly said in a statement to ESSENCE. “She was an incredible soul who made countless sacrifices so that I could become the woman—and now mother—I am today. We humbly appreciate all the love and support and only ask for privacy during this difficult time.”

Rowland Garrison suffered a heart attack on Monday December 1 and passed away early Tuesday morning. Her death come just a few weeks after her daughter, Kelly, gave birth to her first child, Titan Jewell Weatherspoon.

When Kelly was child, her mother worked as a live-in nanny. After leaving her abusive husband, she and her daughter relocated to Houston, Texas. Rowland Garrison reportedly gave Beyoncé’s parents, Tina and Matthew Knowles, legal guardianship over Kelly when she was very young. The friendship that budded between the two girls soon led them to form the group Girls Tyme, and later Destiny’s Child. Kelly credits her mother with helping her reach superstardom.

“It was because of your strength and sacrifice that I was able to dream big,” Kelly wrote in a 2006 Mother’s Day tribute published in ESSENCE Magazine.
