BET Orders Pilot Starring Kelly Rowland

Years ago, Kelly Rowlandsaid she had the opportunity to do a television show but let it pass so that she could work on her second solo album. Kelly’s since manage to juggle her music and TV projects, so it’s not surprising to hear that she’s finally ready for her own sitcom.

MiMi Refutes Stevie J and Joseline Engagement Claims

Mimi Faust called into TT Torrez’s iPower 92 radio show where she dished on her “baby daddy” Stevie J and his side piece, Joseline Hernandez.  Mimi revealed that she learns more and more about baby daddy Stevie J on Monday nights at the same time the fans do.  She added that she met Joseline right before taping and had no knowledge about the extent of her relationship with Stevie J.  In fact, she said that still to this day, “He tells me that’s just his artist.  We getting money.”  And when asked if Stevie J. and Joseline were getting married, a very animated Mimi said, “Oh God come on….stop it!”

Bobbi Kristina Debuts on “For Better or Worse”

Bobbi Kristina Brown made her acting debut on Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse on TBS last night and by all accounts she did pretty good.

Ahead of the episode Tyler Perry posted a letter on his website explaining how Krissi’s role on For Better or Worse came about and asking for fan support.

Tyler writes,

Ok, with my heart and soul I will help and protect this child, just as I tried to do for Whitney.

So with that said, one thing I knew that Krissi would need after Whitney’s death was a safe place to grieve. So when she told me she wanted to act I said I would help. If she had said she wanted to be a doctor I would have tried to help her get into the best schools. But because she said acting, that was easy for me. I thought, “this is great”. This way I could have her on the show, while at the same time be there for her and help her walk through this grief.

So I wrote her into For Better Or Worse, which airs tonight on TBS. Now I wrote a very small part because I wasn’t sure if she could act. She had never done it before. So needless to say I was a little cautious, but BOY WAS I WRONG! Krissi was so good in that small part that I went back and wrote major scenes for her and even one entire show around her character. I’m so proud of this kid. You have no idea. SO PROUD OF HER!

I know Whitney is smiling down on her baby girl. Here’s what I’d like you to help me with if you don’t mind. It is one of my heart’s desires to see Krissi happy and joyous and moving through the pain of this tragedy. I know that the news media has moved on but the pain is still very real to her. What I also know is that every little bit of sunshine can help her move through. Trust me, I know. You helped me move through the grief of my mother’s death. So if you will, after you watch Krissi’s performance on For Better Or Worse tonight on TBS, please post a comment on my message board letting her know what you thought. She’s been through hell and to see her smile melts my heart. So I know if she reads your comments she will be even more inspired. And you better believe she’ll be watching and reading…lol. You know how these teenagers are with the internet.

Lastly, if you will whisper a prayer for her and the Houston family I know that they would appreciate it. Most of you have no idea what it’s like to lose a mother, especially at 19. I’m 42 and it still brings me to my knees at times.

Be well, God bless and I’ll be reading tonight.

Love ya, Tyler

Love and Hip Hop Producer Denies Show Is Scripted

I don’t know about you, but for me Love and Hip Hop Atlanta is  just a ratchet version of All My Children. Now LHHA producer Mona Scott-Young ruins the illusion by disputing long standing rumors that the show is scripted.

Mona tells MTV Rap Fix Live,

“We don’t feed you information. It’s not scripted. That’s the most ridiculous thing that I hear all the time. There are like 40-something people on set. Do you think I can get them all to keep the secret? What do they do with script afterwards, eat it? This is their lives!”

and as for the notion she’s promoting negative images Mona says,

“[These people] have every right to tell their stories. I think they’re valid stories, and judging by the numbers, they’re stories that people want to see and hear about. But if this is not your cup of tea, there are other great shows on other networks that you may view as well.”

‘American Idol’ Mariah Carey In Talks To Judge Season 12, Randy Jackson Rumored To Step Down

Via Huffington Post

It’s been quite a week in “American Idol” news, and a few other big changes may be headed to the Fox singing competition show.

According to Us Weekly, Mariah Carey is in talks to join the judges panel, while Randy Jackson may be stepping down. “They are in serious talks with Mariah and it’s very close to being a done deal,” a source told Us. “And they will move Randy into a more mentoring role.”

On Thursday, Steven Tyler officially stepped down after two years on “Idol.”  “After some long … hard … thoughts … I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’ before she boils my rabbit,” the Aerosmith singer said in a statement. “I strayed from my first love, Aerosmith, and I’m back — but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band.”

Jennifer Lopez is also rumored to move on from the show. “I’ve enjoyed it so much, but I am thinking it’s maybe time for me to go and do other things I really love to do like films … and performing,” Lopez said on “Today.” “I know everybody wants that definite ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ and … all I can let you in on is my own thought process with it, because that’s where I truly am.”

New Show: ‘R&B Divas’

The new TV One show “R&B Divas” offers a personal glimpse into their private worlds as they lean on each other and offer candid revelations about their efforts to deal with major life transitions and challenges such as divorce, parenting issues, drugs, alcohol, physical abuse and more.

These friends come together, at the instigation of Faith Evans, to produce a charity album inspired by her friend, Whitney Houston. In honor of the late singer, proceeds from the album will benefit the Whitney E. Houston Academy of Creative and Performing Arts, an institution that Houston attended, located in her hometown of East Orange, NJ. At the same time, they are all juggling myriad personal challenges and responsibilities in addition to making music – including raising families. Faith prepares for a major move as she maintains her businesses and helps manage the estate of a music icon. Monifah reveals a bombshell that could drive a wedge between them. Keke is pregnant and the women are convinced that she can’t go anywhere without her husband/manager. Nicci is launching a new plus-sized clothing line called Curvato, while Syleena makes a career decision that will affect her entire family and put additional strain on her financially.

Faith Evans: Faith has been in the industry for over 10 years and was previously married to the Notorius B.I.G.  And after winning a Grammy, dropping three platinum albums and becoming a NYT Best Selling author, she’s the center of this friendship circle of ladies.

Nicci Gilbert: She’s the lead singer/songwriter from the R&B group Brownstone.  She’s now spun her 15-year-career into the acting and fashion worlds.

Monifah: After getting her start singing background for reggae artist Maxi Priest, she worked with Heavy D to get her career and first album Moods…Moments off the ground in the late 90’s.  Fifteen years and 1 Gold certified album later, the “I Miss You” singer is currently writing, producing and recording her fourth CD as she continues performing live with her band “Soulution.”

Syleena Johnson:  The singer says she lost her love for music “for a minute because it broke my heart at one point…but I am glad to say that we are back together and learning to love each other again.” The daughter of the nation’s first black female police commissioner and legendary soul and blues singer Syl Johnson, she was initially discouraged from getting into the music business by her father, who had many disappointing experiences in the industry. But after training and a breakup with an abusive boyfriend, she embarked on a career 10 years ago.  She’s well known for handling the vocals on Kanye West’s “All Falls Down” track.

Ketara Shavon Wyatt, b.k.a. Keke Wyatt:  She’s the daughter of a Caucasian vocalist mother and an African American organist/vocalist father and started singing at two. KeKe grew up in the church, where the family had the image of a happy Christian family; but behind closed doors there were problems stemming from abuse and also adversity experienced by the family’s multi-racial background.  At the height of her career breakthrough, the “Nothing In This World” singer’s private struggle with domestic violence became the main focus in the media. In 2001, Wyatt was arrested for stabbing her husband; the charges were later dropped, but her career suffered from the negative attention. In 2004, the songstress signed to New Orleans based Cash Money Records.  Thanks to Hurricane Katrina, her album promo and sales suffered.  She now serves as a spokesperson for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

The show premieres on Monday, August 20 at 10 PM ET on TV One.
