Emmett Till Accuser Reveals She Fabricated Her Testimony

Emmett Till (l.), a black 14-year-old Chicago boy, was brutally murdered near Money, Miss., in 1955 after whistling at Carolyn Bryant (r.), a white woman.

In a new book named ‘The Blood of Emmett Till‘ out next week, author Timothy Tyson reveals that he engaged in a conversation with Carolyn Bryant Donham back in 2002 about Emmett’s death.  She is the woman who accused Emmett of whistling at her back in 1955.

As a result, a group of white men burst into the home of 14-year-old Emmett Till, kidnapped him, tortured, mutilated and shot him and dumped him in the Tallahatchie River.  This year, long after his murderers were found Not Guilty and the passing of  Emmett’s mother, Donham has something to confess.

“I made it up.”

Much to Tyson’s surprise, the now elderly woman (who has been married twice since her relatives slaughtered the teenage boy) had this to say when she was asked about she had accused him of doing to her.

That part’s not true.

Yes, the 82-year old now claims that the incident in which she claimed saw Till make lewd remarks towards her and threatened her safety was a lie.

Vanity Fair adds:

As for the rest of what happened that evening in the country store, she said she couldn’t remember. She reflective in Timothy Tyson’s presence, wistfully volunteering, “Nothing that boy did could ever justify what happened to him.”

She also admitted she “felt tender sorrow,” Tyson would note, “for Mamie Till-Mobley”—Emmett Till’s mother, who died in 2003 after a lifetime spent crusading for civil rights. (She had bravely insisted that her son’s casket remain open at his funeral in order to show America what had been done to him.) “When Carolyn herself [later] lost one of her sons, she thought about the grief that Mamie must have felt and grieved all the more.”

Scientist Names Rare Horse Fly After Beyoncé; California Marijuana Strain Named After Blue Ivy

Over the years, Beyoncé Knowles has amassed numerous honors in the world of music. Now the chart-topping vocalist can add another, as her name has been given to a previously un-named species of horsefly.

According to csironewsblog.com, the horse fly’s golden lower abdomen prompted Australian National Insect Collection researcher/ Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) scientist Bryan Lessard to officially “describe” the fly as Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae.

“It was the unique dense golden hairs on the fly’s abdomen that led me to name this fly in honour of the performer Beyoncé as well as giving me the chance to demonstrate the fun side of taxonomy – the naming of species,” Lessard said.

Sharing a name isn’t the only thing Knowles has in common with the horse fly. The site reports that the Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae, a rare species, was collected in 1981, the same year Beyoncé was born, from north-east Queensland’s Atherton Tablelands, together with two other previously unknown specimens.

Beyoncé’s inclusion in the insect world follows recent news surrounding her new daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. TMZ states that several weed dispensaries in Hollywood are selling a new strain of marijuana called “OG Blue Ivy.” At this time, Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z, have not issued a legal notice to the dispensaries regarding this situation.

Online Sites for Dating Prisoners on the Rise

Online sites for dating prisoners have proliferated in recent years. On the surface, these sites profess to specialize in connecting people behind bars with those seeking pen pals. Behind this façade, sites with names like jailbabes.com act as bridges that transform long-distance friends into lovers.

Arlen Bischke started a prisoner pen-pal site called meet-an-inmate.com in 1998 to help prisoners connect to the outside world. “They become very lonely and often get cut off from their friends and family,” Biske told theGrio. “Correspondence with a stranger can give them something to look forward to and help their moral.”

Yet his site and those similar to it feature inmate profiles as inviting as any on OkCupid. Posing in spruced-up versions of their prison uniforms, prisoners use these sites to sell themselves to potential pen pals and describe the types of people they want to meet.

One compelling prospective pen pal, Israel Cosme, age 30, displays his perfectly toned chest to visitors of meet-an-inmate.com telling all takers, “I love to laugh and have been told I have a great sense of humor.”

Most Dangerous City In America???

St. Louis has just been named the most dangerous city in the nation. It has been reported that St Louis has four times as many crimes as the national average.

There are some questions around the methodology of the study itself, which was conducted by CQ Press (Take a look here). The test was based on FBI statistics on numbers of rape, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, and motor vehicle theft.

St. Louis city officials are disappointed that they keep ending up on the list although the crime rates have continuously decreased since 2007.

Following St Louis on the list of most dangerous cities are Camden (NJ), Detroit (MI), Flint (MI), and Oakland (CA).
