KANYE SPEAKS ON LOVE, THE FUTURE, AND FENDI

Kanye West covers the latest issue of I.D Magazine’s Back To The Future Issue.  Inside, he shares his experience during his brief hiatus from “celebrity”, his friendship with Jay-z and the qualities he looks for in a woman.  Peep the excerpts:

On the qualities he looks for in a woman?
Integrity. I’m a hopeless romantic and I’m looking and trying to decide who the mother of my child will be. It’s not going to be based off a whim of being in love; she has to bring a certain level to the table. I want to be married, I want that super dope counterpart, that one woman, but she has to be super-fresh, super-smart and not overwhelmed, because being with me is gonna be a job (laughs). She can’t be overwhelmed by her career. I’ll find her, maybe I’ll be 38… maybe I’m not fully who I am yet, maybe that’s why I haven’t found her… The main quality is that you know that this person will ride or die for you. Whether she’s mad at you, whether she’s with you or not, she still loves you, she still bigs you up in any circle. She doesn’t talk down about you to other people. That’s the main thing I need.

On His Experience at Fendi
After the MTV thing. I moved to Japan for three weeks…stayed in a hotel and worked on designs just to stay out of the way of paparazzi. Then I moved to Rome and I interned at Fendi for five months. At weekends I’d take time off and go to Stockholm and meet up with Jonny from ACNE or go and see Giuseppe Zanotti in Italy and work in factories with him.

Where do we find Kanye West in 2010?
I say, “You’re living in the future/ Your present is your past, because I’m always thinking in terms of 2012, 2013, 2014. I see the future.

Nicki Minaj, Keri Hilson, Brandy, & More Tape VH1 Divas Salute The Troops Show

It was ladies’ night for the troops.  Presented by the USO at the MCAS Miramar in San Diego, Nicki Minaj and Keri Hilson hit the VH1 Divas Salute The Troops stage to provide eye candy and music for the soldiers.

They performed alongside Katy Perry , Jennifer Nettles, host Kathy Griffin, MC Lyte and more. And we’ve got pics of the performances and backstage.

The show will air Sunday, December 5 at 9:00 PM ET/PT on VH1.  And here’s what the USO President Sloan Gibson had to say about how much this show means to our troops:

“The USO is thrilled to be partnering with VH1 and honored to be a part of delivering such an uplifting event to our nation’s troops. The holidays are especially tough for our men and women in uniform, and their families, and having the opportunity to touch so many troops stationed around the world at a time of year that matters most lets them know that America still cares about their welfare. There is no better time to celebrate our armed forces and support their efforts than now.”

THE SOURCE GIVES KANYE WEST LATEST LP 5 MICS

IT’S OFFICIAL THE NUMBERS ARE IN

It’s official: the only person who can beat Kanye West is Kanye West. The rapper’s latest effort, ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’, has captured the top spot on the charts this week, selling an impressive 518,775 copies. This means that the record has sold almost 70k more than his previous effort, ‘808 & Heartbreak’, which debuted with just over 450k in the same week two years prior.

In fact, West has managed to outperform even Nicki Minaj whose ‘Pink Friday’ debut LP sold 317,049 units. Minaj has no reason to worry, however, as her nemesis Lil Kim’s debut album, ‘Hardcore’, entered the charts at #11 back in November 1996.

Ne-Yo managed to land a position in the top 10 at #8 with ‘Libra Scale’ which sold over 117k copies. This accomplishment marks the highest entry for the album on any chart worldwide as it missed the top 10 in every territory including the UK where it debuted at #11 despite his ‘Beautiful Monster’ single peaking at #1.

There were several other interesting moves on this week’s tally. Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ LP experienced a 35% dip in sales, selling another 133,662 copies despite the Thanksgiving rush. On the other hand, Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now’ had a 71% upsurge, claiming the #3 spot with 255,991 records sold. Finally, Christina Aguilera’s ‘Burlesque’ soundtrack shifted 62, 514 units, entering the chart at #18.

SWIZZ BEATZ PREMIERES NEW CHRIS BREEZY SINGLE VIA ‘USTREAM’

Super producer, Swizz Beatz recently previewed a brand new song he worked on with R&B star Chris Brown on his Ustream. The pair previously worked together on Breezy’s single ‘I Can Transform Ya’, and they’re hoping to create more musical magic once again. It is not yet known whether the song will apear on Swizz’s new album, or Chris’s new album ‘F.A.M.E.’, but wherever it ends up, it sounds like quite the catch! Let’s hope we get to hear a longer version real soon.
