New ‘Watch The Throne’ Track, ‘Otis,’ Released: Listen

After confirming an early August release date for “Watch The Throne,” Jay-Z and Kanye West have released a new song from their highly anticipated collaborative album. “Otis,” a hard-hitting track built around an Otis Redding sample, hit the web tonight via Funk Master Flex’s blogsite.

After months of waiting, “Watch The Throne” is set to be released digitally on Aug. 1 and hit shelves four days later. Full production credits for the album leaked yesterday after the deluxe track listing revealed guest spots by Beyonce, Frank Ocean, and Mr. Hudson.

Wale and J. Cole pay homage to all the “bad bitches” on “Bad Girls Club,” the first single from the Maybach Music Group signee’s sophomore album. Over a booming beat produced by Cole, the rappers trade verses about a girl who’s the perfect 10. A video was recently shot at a mansion in Pasadena, Calif., and features Cole as well Rick Ross. People are still buzzing about her sizzling performance at the BET Awards, and Kelly Rowland keeps the momentum going by unveiling the close-up cover for her third solo album Here I Am, dropping July 26.

The Destiny’s Child diva’s first project for Universal Motown features the Lil Wayne-assisted smash “Motivation” and “Lay It on Me” with Big Sean. Tracks include “I’m Dat Chick,” “Turn It Up,” and “All of the Night,” with production from David Guetta, Tricky Stewart, Rodney Jerkins, and Rico Love.

Erykah Badu to Release First Mixtape This July as “DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown”

The Queen of Neo-Soul, Erykah Badu, has announced that her first mixtape, which she will also be producing, will be released this July.

With the promise that Grammy-Award winner Erykah Badu’s project will “melt any DJ’s face off,” fans are anxious to hear what exactly she has to offer.

At the Los Angeles Film Festival where she was presenting a screening of the 2009 film The Invention of Lying, Badu announced that she is preparing for the release of her “dance project” next month using the name “DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown.”

She kicked off this new venture by DJing at the Key Club for the “Black Girls Rock and Soul Tour” in Hollywood last Friday as well as at a BET Award’s pre-awards diner the night after.

Erykah Badu is a multi-platinum selling, Grammy-Award winning, singer, producer, and actress, that has released six albums to critical acclaim, including one “live” release, and has starred in seven films.

She will next be seen as one of the headlining acts on this years Rock the Bells Festival where she will be performing her debut album Baduizm in it’s entirety.

The festival kicks off August 20th in Los Angeles and wraps up September 10th in Boston.

Wu-Tang Clan Reloads with ‘Legendary Weapons’ Album

Wu-Tang Clan is back on the attack. The iconic hip-hop collective, including Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, RZA, Method Man, Capadonna, U-God, and Inspectah Deck, is aiming for destruction with a new album Legendary Weapons, due July 26.

Executive produced by RZA, Weapons features a throwback sound inspired by classic soul and kung fu imagery, with raw tracks by RZA and members of Brooklyn-based band The Revelations. Together, they tell a tale of the crew’s violent New York street life. Guests include AZ, M.O.P., Sean Price, Killa Sin, and more.

The album’s first single “Only the Rugged Survive” was produced by Noah Rubin and features RZA. Check the official tracklisting below.

Diddy To Be Honored With ASCAP’s Founder Award During Ceremony

 

Rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs will be honored next month during the 24th annual ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Awards.

Combs will receive the Founders Award during the annual song writers celebration, which will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in Los Angeles California.

The rapper/mogul will join join a long list of recipients who have received ASCAP’s Founders Award in the past, joining artists like Berry Gordy Jr., Dr. Dre, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel Smokey Robinson, Paul McCartney, Ashford & Simpson and others.

“To be recognized for my contributions to music by ASCAP, an organization that represents music creators, is a true honor,” Diddy  told the Associated Press, “All I wanted to do was make people dance and hopefully inspire others to never settle for anything but their best.”

In addition to the Founders Award, songwriters and publishers of ASCAP’s best-known R&B songs of 2010 will be honored during the invitation-only ceremony, which will take place on June 24th.
