New Music: Nelly Furtado – ‘Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)’

Nelly Furtado is back  on “Big Hoops (Bigger the Better),” the first single off her fourth English album The Spirit Indestructible, due on my B’day June 19th. The Canadian singer shakes it fast and takes it slow on the bombastic Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins production, delivering her signature rap-sung style.

“I bet you never heard something like that,” sings Nelly, who has also collaborated with Nas, Salaam Remi, and Tiesto on the follow-up to 2006’s multi-platinum Loose.

New Video: Nicki Minaj f/ 2 Chainz – ‘Beez in the Trap’

Nicki Minaj has everyone buzzing about the fantASStic video for “Beez in the Trap,” the latest single off her album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which is expected to debut at No. 1 next week. Shot in Miami, the dirty version of the Benny Boom-directed clip co-stars rapper-of-the-moment 2 Chainz.

Ev’ryday Black is BACK!!!

 Ev’ryday Black was created back in 2007 by bestfriends J’Evryday and Dre Black.  Combining the most talented of musicians from across the DMV,  Ev’ryday Black was birthed from the roots of  Soul, Hip-Hop, Funk with hint of that DC sound Go-Go.  The band had a brief stint at the Ras Dashen and the R & R, before disbanding in 2008. J’Ev’ryday went on to form Ev’ryday Baby and Dre Black created a milder form of Ev’ryday Black, Dre Black & Egocentric.  Dre Black & Egocentric had the pleasure of performing at the Summer Jam, Black Family Reunion, and other special performances throughout 2009. 

The reigniting of Ev’ryday Black has been in the works ever since they disbanded and are ready to hit the stage together again for the first time in four years.  The fans that were acquired will be happy to know that they will be a mainstay at Haydee’s Lounge located at 6303 Georgia Ave, NW the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, with a big show every three months featuring the hottest DMV talent.  The opening night is this Saturday, April 7th, doors open at 7pm.  Dre Black even has a drink created in his honor called the “Black Margarita,” which is the #1 drink at Haydee’s, and he and J’Ev’ryday have concocted a new drink the “ Ev’ryday Black,” which is comprised of VSOP Remy, Orange Juice, Ginger Ale, and a special ingredient.  Make sure to come and check out the underground band that has the streets buzzing reading to take on not just the DMV, but the entire nation!!!

New Music: Trina – ‘Outer Space’

Trina explores a new frontier on the synth-heavy “Outer Space” featuring Kid Cadet and Vinny Venditto. The Diamond Princess, who recently underwent a makeover on VH1’s “Styled by June,” hits the dance floor with her Gloria Gaynor-inspired anthem. “Everybody want a second chance/ I just want to dance, wanna live like I’m free,” she sings over the electro-pop beat.

New Music Premiere: Ameriie – ‘Every Time’


Just when you weren’t expecting it, Ameriie returns with a brand new song off her upcoming mini-LP The Prelude. The sexy chanteuse takes it back to familiar territory on the first offering “Every Time,” produced by Focus. The mid-tempo R&B cut will remind listeners of her 2002 debut All I Have, as a lovestruck Ameriie sings about missing her man.

New Music: Lil’ Kim f/ Young Jeezy – ‘Keys to the City’

Lil’ Kim locks down a collaboration with Young Jeezy on the heavy-hitting “Keys to the City.” The Queen Bee previously hinted about the record during her interviews on “RapFix Live” and “106 & Park,” describing it “as vintage Kim mixed with the new Kim.”

Kimmy Blanco spits tough bars (“I got that cocaine flow like Griselda”) over a chopped-and-screwed hook, while Jizzle throws some D’s on his verse.

Hours after debuting her Chris Brown-assisted single “Right By My Side,” Nicki Minaj gets gully with 2 Chainz on their hood anthem “Beez in the Trap,” another cut off her sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (April 3).

“Bitches ain’t shit and they ain’t sayin’ nothin’/ A hundred muthafuckas can’t tell me nothin’/ I beez in the trap,” raps Young Money’s First Lady before throwing it to 2 Chainz for some southern bounce.

A video was recently shot in Miami.

New Music: Brandy & Monica – ‘It All Belongs to Me’

 

Fourteen years after topping the charts with“The Boy Is Mine,” Brandy and Monica reunite on the highly-anticipated follow-up, “It All Belongs to Me.” Described by producer Rico Love as a “very soulful R&B song with pop sensibilities,” the ladies take a different approach from their 1998 single, kicking their men to the curb on the empowering tune.

“It is not anything like ‘The Boy Is Mine,’” explained Monica. “At this point, this is where you’re taking your power back and we gon’ come together. This is totally different than that era and I hope it speaks to all the people who are making diss tracks and going hard on each other. Come together and watch the numbers move.”

Brandy added, “This business is all about competition. They forgot about what is the most important, which is two talents coming together. It’s just great to come back and do something with [Monica]. This is definitely a blessing.”

Two different versions of the song will appear on Monica’s album New Life, due Apri 10, and Brandy’s RCA/Chameleon debut, due this spring. A video, directed by Chris Robinson, will be shot on February 13.

New Video: Brianna – ‘Marilyn Monroe’

The visual is finally here!!  After hearing it on the radio stations and in the clubs, Brianna proves that blondes have more fun in the video for “Marilyn Monroe,” the ladies’ anthem off her mixtape Face Off.  The 19-year-old Miami raptress, who cites Trina and Missy Elliott as influences, primps and pouts while channeling the blonde Hollywood starlet in the clip.

“My music is distinctive and matchless.  I have my own lane and I’m going full throttle,” said Brianna, who was formerly signed to Missy’s Goldmind label and appeared on her TV show “Road to Stardom.”  “My brand is a breath of fresh air and I’m here to attack the game from every angle I possibly can.”

Brianna is prepping her debut for release on Poe Boy/Atlantic.
