Meek Mill Addresses Hurricane Sandy’s Impact on His Album Release

Meek Mill was expecting a big rollout for his album, but Mother Nature had other plans. The “Amen” rapper is speaking out about Hurricane Sandy’s impact on his release week.

Meek’s MMG debut Dreams and Nightmares was released to stores on Tuesday, a day after Sandy tore through the East Coast, leaving destruction in her path. Although he wanted to celebrate the long-awaited moment, his priorities quickly shifted.

“This storm has been crazy,” said the 25-year-old MC in a statement. “This is my first release, and I’m supposed to be so happy for it. But the same day my album came out, I was more worried about how my family was holding out and a tree falling on my house.”

The largest storm to hit the East Coast in almost a century shut down many stores in the Tri-State area, but Meek wasn’t concerned about the potential loss of sales. “My focus wasn’t on stores being closed,” explained the Philly native. “I had a packed house, filled with my family, making sure they were good during this storm.”

He knows his fans will go out and support the album when they’re able to. “I made a great album and it will sustain itself. Real people do real shit; my fans will buy the album when they are able to.”

Despite the grim circumstances, Dreams and Nightmares is expected to debut in the top 5 on next week’s charts with 170-200,000 copies sold based on preliminary estimates. The 14-track set includes the Drake-assisted single “Amen” and “Young & Gettin’ It” featuring Kirko Bangz, plus appearances from Rick Ross, Wale, Nas, Mary J. Blige, Trey Songz, and more.

Meek Mill Misses Album Release Party After Being ‘Harassed’ by Police

Meek Mill is living out his dreams and nightmares. While his debut album just dropped this week, the Maybach Music signee was also faced with the harsh reality of being a rapper in the spotlight when he was detained by cops on Wednesday night in Philadelphia.

The 25-year-old MC was scheduled to celebrate the release of his album at a party in Atlanta on Halloween, but his plans were deferred after a run-in with cops in his hometown.

“Cops cost me a lot of money tonight …..taking pics of me like I’ma fuckin joke….no charges just holding,” tweeted Meek along with a photo of himself in handcuffs. “Ni**a I ain’t get knocked they was just tryna hold me back!”

However, despite reports, he was not arrested or charged with anything. “I ain’t get locked up…definitely not in NYC with no gun! Cops just harassed and violated me last night in Philly just for being famous!” he wrote.

“The crazy part about is I really had a handcuff and Rolex on my wrist yesterday,” said Meek, whose album cover features images of a Rolex attached to a handcuff.

His album release party has subsequently been pushed back. “Atl I’m get another date for the album release party! They had me down all last night for nothing! Let u kno soon!”

On a more positive note, Meek’s MMG debut Dreams and Nightmares is expected to sell 165-180,000 copies in its first week, according to early predictions.

Miguel Makes Music with Beyoncé

Is Miguel cooking up a collaboration with Beyoncé? The “Adorn” singer was reportedly in the studio with the pop superstar over the weekend. He teased fans by posting a photo of himself and a makeup-less B, who rocked a ponytail and low-cut black top as she posed alongside her fellow Virgo.

“…woah. creating for Virgo’s all weekend,” tweeted Miguel before deleting all evidence.

Fans of both artists were excited about a potential collaboration. “Whoa!! Epic!!” wrote one of Miguel’s Instagram followers, while another chimed in, “Please do a song together so I can die happy!”

In addition to his own albums, Miguel has written for Usher and collaborated with the likes of Kanye West, Alicia Keys, and Nas.

Sean Garrett Owes American Express $100k and Georgia 1 Milli

Credit card companies will get that money, by any means necessary. Producer Sean Garrett thought he could get away with being cool and being famous; and just skip paying his American Express bill.

He was wrong. There’s no such thing as forgive and forget in the credit world, minus bankruptcy.  According to TMZ, AMEX successfully sued the producer responsible for hits with Beyoncé, Usher, and Nicki Minaj. The judge ordered him to hand over a nice hefty $108,084 to the credit company.

But the sad part about this whole thing is that he’s knee deep in debt, and the light doesn’t seem to be peeking through anywhere for the producer.

The state of Georgia filed a tax lien against him earlier this year for more than $1 million for tax years 2006, 2007, and 2010.
