Frank Ocean Cited for Marijuana Possession, Speeding & Suspended License

Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean was recently cited for marijuana possession on New Year’s Eve and had his driver’s license confiscated.

According to TMZ, Ocean was pulled over in Mono County, Calif., for going about 90 mph in a 65 zone.  When police approached his black BMW, they smelled marijuana coming from his car.

Law enforcement officials searched the “Thinkin Bout You” singer and found a small bag of weed on him.  He was reportedly cited for marijuana possession, driving on a suspended license, and tinted windows.

He was immediately released, but had to be driven home by his passenger due to the confiscated license.

Was Rapper Lil Twist Driving Justin Bieber’s Car At Time Of The Deadly Accident?

Last night a photographer was struck and killed by an SUV while attempting to get a picture of Justin Bieber in his Ferarri, after the vehicle was pulled over by Los Angeles police.

According to TMZ, Bieber, 18, was not even in the car. The vehicle was being driven by his pal, 19-year-old rapper Lil Twist, who is Lil Wayne’s protégé.

Lil Twist and Bieber were hanging out at the Beverly Hills Four Seasons Hotel Tuesday afternoon, and for some reason Lil Twist left in the white Ferrari without Justin.

Around 6:00 p.m. the California Highway Patrol pulled over Bieber’s white Ferrari on Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Chris Guerra, the 29-year-old photographer, arrived at the scene, got out of his car and crossed the street to take photos, but was directed by officers to return to his car. He was reportedly struck and killed by an SUV as he went back across the boulevard to his vehicle.

The singer has since issued a statement offering his condolences to the photographer’s family and also calling for legislation to protect celebrities from being harassed by paparazzi.

“While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim,” Bieber said in a statement to CNN.

“Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves.”

The LAPD are investigating, but no charges have been filed.

Chad and Evelyn Spotted Out Since the “Incident”

Chad Johnson and Evelyn Lozada  were spotted together over the weekend.  Evelyn went on to post a message about their encounter on her website that read:

“I wanted to wish you a happy and safe New Year and take time to address a few rumors and unanswered questions about last night. It seems as though things have gotten a wee bit out of control.

I attended a dinner with Chad’s daughter, not only because I love baby girl like my own, but to support Chad and his fan appreciation dinner. While at the dinner, several photos popped up on the Internet of Chad and I holding hands, while in the process of blessing the food. The blogs made last night seem as though, we walked hand and hand into the restaurant announcing a reunion, which wasn’t the case.

I care for Chad, we are friends and we love one another, however, we are still separated, not living under the same roof and working on ourselves because we have a long way to go. This is a normal and realistic process for anyone and I don’t know what the future holds for me, but I know God holds it and I’m taking things one day at a time. I appreciate the love from so many of you and right now I’m still working on becoming a better person. Chad and I are attending therapy separately, meeting with a Life Coach and trying to figure out how to work on our individual selves and navigate through this entire ordeal.

I wanted you to hear this from me and only me because I would rather you know the truth, than assume. 🙂

Let’s make tonight a safe and wonderful New Year and many blessings to you and yours for 2013!

Please remember, don’t drink and drive.”

Love,

Evelyn

Frank Ocean Not Recording Any More Albums??

Image

Frank Ocean has won over the hearts of many and has made an honestly lyrical mark in the world of music.

Raking in six Grammy nominations, the singer/songwriter caught up with the Guardian to discuss his accomplishments, his lyrics and what artists he’s been listening to, but most importantly Frank reveals that Channel Orange could be his last album!

Check out excerpts from the interview below:

I’d like to talk about your lyrics. You seem to work in a very cinematic way.

Whenever I think about movies, I always look at that art process as having the best of a lot of worlds. Because if you watch a great film, you have a musical element to it, not just on the scoring, but in the way that the shots are edited – that has music and rhythm and time.

Obviously the cinematography of films is art, just as a still shot can be art. If I’m watching a Wes Anderson movie, the colour palettes alone, and the way they’re painted, could be art. With music you’re a little bit limited, of course, because it’s only audio. Apart from the artwork and the music videos, if you can get the label to give you money for shit like that, or if you can do it yourself. But the storytelling, that’s where you can really paint pictures. You can’t do it with a melody or a sound or a rhythm or a chord progression. The storytelling part of it is the most interesting and challenging part of the whole process for me.

That’s quite unusual. A lot of people don’t take care over their lyrics like that.

I don’t think that’s true. A lot of people do. That’s a real – what’s the word? – a strength, a focus rather, of a lot of contemporary musicians. But you’re right. Some people focus more on sonics. Some people focus more on story. I focus on both sonics and story, but music sometimes, just music itself, can turn into more of a maths problem. I guess everything in life is a math problem, but it can be more about an empirical route to getting the symmetry that you want, and this vibe, sonically. But storytelling’s a different thing. Like I said, it’s the more interesting part about making music for me, or making albums and songs and stuff. So much so that I might not make another album. I might just write a novel next. I don’t know!

I don’t believe you. You just said you were in the studio.

Yeah, but I was working on another artist. I wasn’t working on me.

So Channel Orange could be your last album? This could be it?

It could be. It could be it, if I flew next week and my plane crashed! It could be it if somebody walked along and shot me for my bracelet or something. It could always be it. The idea of recognising your strengths and using them in as versatile a way as you can is cool to me. I don’t ever want to be caught up in a system of thinking I can do one thing cos that’s just … that’s just telling yourself a lie. But I do like to sing. I play piano every day. I enjoy that.

Beyonce’s and Pepsi Collaboration More In Depth

For its campaign with Beyonce next year, Pepsi doesn’t just want to sign up the telegenic pop star for another TV commercial. It also wants to get into the Beyoncé business.  A limited edition Pepsi can developed in partnership between the beverage company and Beyoncé will first be seen in Europe in March 2013.

In an expansion of the recent marketing experiments that have brought PepsiCo ever closer to the music industry, the company has embarked on a hybrid project with Beyoncé that will include standard advertising like commercials as well as a multimillion-dollar fund to support the singer’s chosen creative projects.

“Pepsi embraces creativity and understands that artists evolve,” Beyoncé said in a statement. “As a businesswoman, this allows me to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing my creativity.”

The campaign will coincide with a blitz of promotion for her next album, which has no title or release date so far but is expected in 2013. Sometime after she performs at the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 3 (also sponsored by Pepsi), Beyoncé will appear in a new TV ad — her fifth for the soft drink since 2002 — and her face will be on a limited-edition line of soda cans.
