ONE OF THE ELITE IN FEMALE EMCEEING SHEDS LIGHT ON THE ‘BEEF’
Hip-hop pioneer MC Lyte shared her thoughts on the Lil’ Kim vs. Nicki Minaj beef backstage at “VH1 Divas.” The politically correct femcee thinks there’s room for everyone, but says it’s not Kim who should be worried by Nicki.
“Those who really need to be worried by Nicki’s record is Fergie, Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado,” she tells VH-1 “Nicki is coming out to win. She’s not thinking of the block. She’s not just thinking of the city. So she’s able to handle so many areas of what it takes right now to be an international star.”
Lyte definitely has a point. Judging by ‘Pink Friday,’ Nicki Minaj is doing just that, making mainstream music that will garner her international awareness. I must say I’m not a fan of the album, but I have come to like Nicki. It’s like I’m always wanting to see what she is going to do next, that’s what makes an artist an artist. Always striving and wanting to be the best. Honestly, the real money is in mainstream, ‘cross-over’ music, it’s sad to say but the real consumers of Hip-Hop and R&B are white. Some people like to call the ‘cross-over’ appeal a ‘sell-out.’ I feel that as long as your making good music that comes from a genuine place and you have the potential to reach different people, cultures, and continents….I see that as a rewarding blessing.
RICK ROSS CALLS OUT CHRISETTE MICHELE OVER BLOG COMMENTS
Rick Ross is calling out his “Aston Martin Music” collaborator Chrisette Michele after the famed songstress criticized him for walking out of the 2010 Soul Train Awards.
As previously reported , Chrisette denounced Ross after he lost the “Best Hip-Hop Song” category to Eminem and was scene storming out of the awards angrily shortly after.
In an excerpt of her blog, she writes,
“Who stands off at an award show because they don’t win? An award is winning at being as “stuck in a category” as possible.”
Now Rozay is speaking his mind on the situation and tells The Source that he left because of a performance issue he was “uncomfortable with”, not because he lost to Eminem.
“Basically, I had an opportunity to perform “Aston Martin Music,” which Def Jam put together. The day before the awards I went there for rehearsal…it was a lot of things going on onstage and for the first time, me being at an award show I had no input. It was a little uncomfortable. I just came from the BET Hip-Hop Awards [where I invited] MC Hammer down to the pyro stage. As a result, we were voted the number one performance at the awards. I wouldn’t risk that for a three-minute opportunity I’m not comfortable with.”
Ross also emphasized that his walk-out had nothing to do with his fellow rapper or Chrisette Michele, and hints at a possible problem with other guests that were set to be invited onstage for the performance.
“I’ve been going to award shows for a long time and I’ve never had a problem with who won. I’m happy I’m recognized. We were in the trailer, going over these particular [performance] issues [with the shows producer]. Out of respect, we came back out there to give them a reaction to the nomination. They gave the award to Eminem. I applauded. Big Record. That wasn’t the issue. Like I said, the things we requested weren’t met. It had nothing to do with Chrisette Michele. It may have had to do with me not knowing the other 50 people that were onstage at [rehearsal] and we doing my record.”
The Source’s ‘Man of the Year’ also adds that he wasn’t too pleased with Chrisette’s blog and says that it could cause him to look at her differently adding that he might think her hat or recent hair cut are “ugly.”
“I haven’t spoken to Chrisette Michele or her team. but I didn’t speak to her to [invite her to] the show either. It was something maybe the label set up. [But] her choice of words were ugly. Denouncing Hip-Hop, that ain’t cool. Using ugly words could give off the wrong impression. That could make your hat look ugly to me now. That could make your haircut look ugly to me now. Hopefully if we win a Grammy, she’ll come out and accept it with your boy. Give me a kiss on the cheek.”
RAPPER, THE GAME SENDS UP PRAYERS FOR HIS 3 MONTH DAUGHTER
The GAME may say a lot of crazy things on his Twitter page, but today he is asking for your help.
According to the The Game, his daughter Cali is having surgery and he is requesting that fans send out a special prayer for her speedy recovery.
“My daughter has surgery today. If you find time send a prayer up for me on her behalf. THANK YOU in advance,” The Game tweeted.
“Cali Dream Taylor: Daddy Loves u & is with u as u take this short journey under Gods watch. He will c it through so we can rejoice tomorrow.”
Although the condition causing the need for surgery is not specified, from The Game’s tweets, you can see that it is something that is pretty serious.
“She’s only 3 months old so it’s extra HARD to fathom but through God’s strife she is already healed, still I pray that all goes as planned,” The Game continued. “She was supposed to have the surgery when I got home but the condition worsened and it had to be moved up, It’s KILLIN ME that I’m not there.”
The Game, who reported that his daughter has entered surgery, states that the procedure should be fairly short but requests the help of his fans through this difficult time.
“Her mother just informed me that she just went in, so prayerfully it will be a short successful process. THANK EVERYONE who sends her LOVE.”

During a recent interview for the Associated Press, Jay-Z had a few words for George W. Bush, who said Kanye’s comments about him being a racist during Hurricane Katrina was one of the lowest points in his presidency:
“I 100 percent agreed with the comments that he made, because again … it felt like it was being done to black people. Like all you saw on the news was black people with help signs and all this stuff, and then you have this picture of the commander in chief, who we all rely on, just flying by.”
Jay-Z continued…
“Just the fact that he thinks that the worst thing that happened to him is Kanye saying something about him. Like, what? That alone shows you where his mind is. Are you kidding me?”

Kanye West covers the latest issue of I.D Magazine’s Back To The Future Issue. Inside, he shares his experience during his brief hiatus from “celebrity”, his friendship with Jay-z and the qualities he looks for in a woman. Peep the excerpts:
On the qualities he looks for in a woman?
Integrity. I’m a hopeless romantic and I’m looking and trying to decide who the mother of my child will be. It’s not going to be based off a whim of being in love; she has to bring a certain level to the table. I want to be married, I want that super dope counterpart, that one woman, but she has to be super-fresh, super-smart and not overwhelmed, because being with me is gonna be a job (laughs). She can’t be overwhelmed by her career. I’ll find her, maybe I’ll be 38… maybe I’m not fully who I am yet, maybe that’s why I haven’t found her… The main quality is that you know that this person will ride or die for you. Whether she’s mad at you, whether she’s with you or not, she still loves you, she still bigs you up in any circle. She doesn’t talk down about you to other people. That’s the main thing I need.
On His Experience at Fendi
After the MTV thing. I moved to Japan for three weeks…stayed in a hotel and worked on designs just to stay out of the way of paparazzi. Then I moved to Rome and I interned at Fendi for five months. At weekends I’d take time off and go to Stockholm and meet up with Jonny from ACNE or go and see Giuseppe Zanotti in Italy and work in factories with him.

Nicki Minaj, Keri Hilson, Brandy, & More Tape VH1 Divas Salute The Troops Show
It was ladies’ night for the troops. Presented by the USO at the MCAS Miramar in San Diego, Nicki Minaj and Keri Hilson hit the VH1 Divas Salute The Troops stage to provide eye candy and music for the soldiers.
They performed alongside Katy Perry , Jennifer Nettles, host Kathy Griffin, MC Lyte and more. And we’ve got pics of the performances and backstage.
The show will air Sunday, December 5 at 9:00 PM ET/PT on VH1. And here’s what the USO President Sloan Gibson had to say about how much this show means to our troops:
