‘The Game’ Scores Huge Ratings

BET and the cast of ‘The Game’ will no doubt be celebrating today. For the show’s much anticipated 4th season premiere (and BET debut) last night has made ratings history.  According to official statistics, a whopping 7.7 million tuned in to see the return of Melanie, Derwin, Tasha, Malik, Jason, and Kelly to the small screen.

As such, the show – which follows the lives and relationships of players on a fictional pro-football team – becomes BET’s biggest ever debut for a scripted series. What’s more, the latest figures more than double the show’s weekly ratings average of 2 million during its peak over at former network The CW where it aired for three seasons.

Notorious B.I.G. Murder Investigation Revived

The police haven’t given up just yet. Nearly 14 years after the Notorious B.I.G.’s untimely death in 1997, a task force of local and federal law enforcement agencies have “reinvigorated” the unsolved case in the rapper’s murder as a result of new information.

Though sources for CNN, close to the action claim that they are actively pursuing leads in the murder of the Brooklynite, who was slain on March 9, 1997 while driving away from an industry party in Los Angeles.

Police originally claimed that a sole gunman pulled up next to Biggie’s ride, opening fire on the rapper who was in the passenger seat. The unsolved murder has haunted the rap industry for years, sparking conspiracy theories in the wake of the infamous East Coast vs. West Coast battles.

“Come on now, you’re messing with lives here and that’s exactly what happened. Two lives were lost as a result of what? Stupidity?” Voletta Wallace, Biggie’s mother, said of the case. Retired L.A.P.D. Detective Russell Poole, who worked on the case at its onset, believed that it was Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight who ordered the hit on B.I.G.

“I think I was getting too close to the truth,” said Poole, who also helped the late lyricist’s family with their wrongful death suit. “I think they feared that the truth would be a scandal.”

Rihanna: Reb’l Fleur Fragrance Will Leave a ‘Sexy Memory’

Everything is coming up roses for Rihanna. Next month, the red-haired singer is set to officially launch her first signature scent Reb’l Fleur, which quietly landed in select stores at the end of last year. The perfume, which boasts scents of vanilla, amber, fruits, and florals, got its title from a childhood pet name. “My grandmother in Barbados used to call me her Rebel Flower,” RiRi told People Magazine, of how she settled on the moniker. Reb’l Fleur will spring up in department stores in February, selling for $49 for a 1.7 oz. bottle.
