Honey Cocaine Shot After Tyga Show (Video)

Tyga’s Careless World was shattered when gunfire erupted following his show in Omaha, Nebraska, leaving his female rap artist Honey Cocaine injured.

Two members of the Young Money rapper’s crew were shot and suffered minor wounds when their vehicle was struck by bullets after his show at the Sokol Auditorium on Monday night, reports MTV News.

Tyga’s signee Honey Cocaine confirmed that she was one of the people shot, but was doing fine. “I’m ok, we all ok,” she tweeted. “Got shot and I’m not dead. #LoveLifeAndGod.”

According to the police report, Honey was hit in the arm and was transported to Creighton University Medical Center. A second passenger, Derrick Lowe, was grazed on his hip and refused treatment.

The incident occurred after Tyga’s concert earlier in the evening. Before performing “Rack City,” the last song in his set, some concertgoers began throwing items on stage. A furious Tyga stopped the show and asked, “Who threw this shit?” later telling the culprit to meet him outside.

Oprah Winfrey Network Lays off One-Fifth of Staff

Oprah Winfrey’s struggling television network, OWN, said Monday it is laying off one-fifth of its workers and restructuring its operations in New York and Los Angeles. The decision to let 30 employees go is a “tough” one, but the economics of a start-up cable network didn’t fit with OWN’s cost structure, Winfrey said in a statement. “As CEO, I have a responsibility to chart the course for long-term success for the network. To wholly achieve that long-term success, this was a necessary next step,” Winfrey said. The responsibilities of the laid-off workers will be distributed among people with the network and its venture partners, Discovery Communications and Winfrey’s Harpo Studios, according to OWN. The cable channel, which launched Jan. 1, 2011, endured a freshman year of executive turnover and missteps that proved OWN lacked a solid foundation on which to build. This was despite a Discovery Communications investment of a reported $250 million and counting. Discovery executives will take a more active role in the channel, according to the announcement.

Behind the Video: M.I.A.- ‘Bad Girls’

M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls” video earned praise from everyone from Rihanna to Tyler, the Creator upon its release last month. Now the pop rebel takes us behind the scenes of the brilliant clip, shot in Ouarzazate, Morocco. Director Romain Gavras drew inspiration for the high-speed scenes by watching YouTube videos of Saudis drifting on two wheels.

“Maya and I have had this video concept in mind for a while since we’ve worked on ‘Born Free,’” said Gavras. “We stumbled upon these videos on YouTube. We were mesmerized.”

M.I.A. added, “It was like the coolest shit I had ever seen.”

“The idea was to compile Arabic references—fantasized or not—into a pop video,” explained Gavras. “Pop videos usually show American kids in their element. Here you got Arab kids in an insane car rodeo element.”

The documentary-style clip includes commentary from the stunt car drivers, crew, and local residents who were on set.

Gavras acknowledges that it will be hard to top himself. “It will be hard to make something as grandiose as this. Next video needs to be shot on the moon.”
