Fantasia Breaks Down at Birthday Concert

An emotional Fantasia Barrino broke down in tears in front of hundreds of adoring fans during her performance at the Truth Is concert staged at the Ambassador Hotel, Port-of-Spain, on Saturday night. Allowing the tears to flow freely, the Grammy Award and 2004 American Idol winner had the crowd awestruck, as she cried while delivering her hit song Even Angels, from her third album Back To Me.

The star who was in Trinidad to celebrate her 28th birthday told fans she had been through many obstacles in her life but had emerged stronger with the help of God. “No matter what you’ve been through, know that you can fly. I have to tell God thank you because he has blessed me. Just when I thought it was all over, he kept blessing me,” said Fantasia. “He’s always been there. I made it through because of God…Everything I went through is my testimony.”

Noting that the music industry is “very snakish,” Fantasia said it got very tough sometimes, as she had to deal with a lot of negativity during her career. She said, “This year, we lost Whitney Houston…They just wouldn’t leave her alone. They did not understand that she was only human. We lose family, friends, all for the love of money. The only person who will never leave you is Jesus.”

Imprisoned Former Cash Money Rapper Turk Gets October Release Date

New Orleans rapper Turk, once a member of Cash Money Records’ biggest group the Hot Boys, will finally be released from prison.

Turk, who served almost nine years after being convicted for weapons violations, will finally be released from the Forrest City, Arkansas federal prison, on October 12, 2012.

Turk, born Tab Vigil Jr., was part of The Hot Boys from 1996-2001.    As a member of the group, Turk was featured on #1 albums like Get It How You Live!, Guerrilla Warfare and released a solo album titled Young & Thuggin’.

But Turk’s career took a tragic turn for the worst, in 2004, during an incident in Memphis, Tennessee.  S.W.A.T. team members raided an apartment Turk frequented and a gunfight ensued, leaving two officers injured.  At the time of the trial, it was hotly contested as to whether or not Turk, who was hiding in a closet, was the shooter, or if the officer who was hit was struck by friendly fire.

In October of 2005, Turk was convicted on federal weapons and drug possession charges. Now that his prison sentence is behind him, the rapper is planning a new book titled “The AutoThugoGraphy of Turk.”

During his nine years incarcerated, Turk also completed a screenplay about his life titled “Reckless,” that he hopes to see make it to the big screen.

New Music: Rick Ross – ‘Hold Me Back’

Rick Ross sticks to the formula on “Hold Me Back,” the latest cut off his highly-anticipated album God Forgives, I Don’t, due July 31. “Deez ni**as wanna hold me back/ Deez hos wanna hold me back,” raps Rozay on the bossy street anthem, which recalls Rico Love’s hook on “Actin’ Up,” Wale and Meek Mill’s collaboration off the Self Made, Vol. 2 compilation.

New Music: Kelly Rowland f/ Lil Wayne – ‘Ice’

After topping the charts with “Motivation” last year, Kelly Rowland and Lil Wayne rekindle the magic on “Ice,” Kelly’s seductive single from her upcoming fourth album. The R&B diva melts the Sean Garrett-penned track with her sexy vocals, cooing, “You’re like ice, I-C-E/ Feels so nice, scorching me.” Cool off with their icy collaboration.
