Rick Ross Rocks the Cover of Rolling Stone, Opens Up About Being Corrections Officer

The Biggest Bawse has landed the cover of the biggest music magazine.  Rick Ross poses shirtless for Rolling Stone under the headline “Gangster of Love.” In the issue, the Maybach Music chief speaks about his seizures (which he partly blames on his weed addiction), support for freedom of speech and the right to bear arms, and his high school days. For the first time, he also opens up about his past as a corrections officer. Read some of the highlights before the issue hits newsstands on August 17.

 On his weed addiction, which contributed to the seizures he had last year: “I’m most definitely an avid user, a pothead, however you want to look at it. I call it green caviar. It’s like a short vacation—it helps me chill out. And people really love it when I chill out, because I can really be a dickhead.”

On his past as a corrections officer, which he describes as an opportunity to “wash my hands” after his best friend was sentenced to 10 years for trafficking cocaine and heroin: “This was my best friend, who I ate peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches with, and pork and beans with, my buddy, my partner, my number-one dude. Suddenly I’m talking to him over federal phone calls. Hearing the way it was building, I knew I couldn’t take nothing for granted,” says Ross. “My homey’s father was a huge influence on my life, too . . . He was the one who was like, ‘Yo, go get a job somewhere, man. Go be a fireman. Or go be a fucking corrections officer. Just go sit down somewhere.”

On his time attending a Christian school: “They wanted me to learn the Ten Commandments. I told them I didn’t really have time for that right now,” recalls Ross, who was an offensive lineman in high school football. “I got through high school on my popularity and shit. … But my grades was never good. I was never good at math.”

On Chick-fil-A’s stance on gay marriage: “Chick-fil-A obviously took their stand. That’s their right—the same way the pro-gay people are taking their stand. I believe everybody got the right to live their own life the way they want to.” But he has no plans to boycott. “Naw. I love that spicy chicken.”

Evelyn Lozada Breaks Her Silence

Basketball Wives Evelyn Lozada speaks out for the first time since the shocking headbutting incident with her husband Chad Johnson.

Evelyn tells E Online 

“It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday. I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.”

Alicia Keys Announces Album Title ‘Girl on Fire’

Alicia Keys is igniting the fire within. The Grammy-winning songstress has announced the official title of her fifth studio album.

 Alicia took to her website to reveal the exciting news. “Girl on Fire is about new beginnings, new perspectives and fresh starts… stripping away all the bad energy in your life and taking full control of the reigns and how you want to live,” she said of the follow-up to 2009’s The Element of Freedom.

She has been in the studio with her husband Swizz Beatz, Babyface, Pop Wansel, Rico Love, and Sevyn, who co-wrote the single “New Day.”

She will debut a new song off the album at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on September 6.

Hey…

I’m in the studio right now working away on my new album and I am SO excited!!! I’m ignited!!! I’m like a match to a flame! I’ve had the title of this album in my mind for a long time….It’s been hard to hold it back and now I’m not holding it back anymore! It is called Girl on Fire!!! And that’s exactly how I feel!!! You’ll be learning more about it soon… but let me just say before making this record, in some ways I felt like a lion locked in a cage…I felt like a girl misunderstood that no one really knew, I felt like it was time to stop making excuses for any part of my life that I wanted to change. Evelyn Lozada has officially filed for divorce from her husband of 41 days calling their marriage “irretrievably broken” and Chad Johnson breaks his silence regarding the ordeal…

A statement on Chad’s website reads,

“I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred. I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death. I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL. To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies. I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life.”

 

New Video: Brandy f/ Chris Brown – ‘Put It Down’

Brandy is back and better than ever in the dance-heavy video for her first single “Put It Down.” The R&B diva rocks her signature braids and cozies up to her co-star Chris Brown in front of a white Ferrari in the colorful clip, directed by Hype Williams. She hits the streets and shows off some moves courtesy of choreographer Frank Gatson (Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland).

“She’s been one of my inspirations musically. As far as females are concerned, she’s one of the best vocalists,” Chris told “The Insider” on set of the L.A. shoot. “I’m honored to have the chance to be on the record with her.”

Frank Ocean Cancels Remaining European Tour Dates

The show won’t go on for Frank Ocean. The “Thinkin Bout You” singer has pulled out of his remaining European festival tour dates and his opening slot on Coldplay’s tour.

 He expressed his regret over the decision in a statement released online (via MTV News).

“Let me start by saying I feel like an asshole right now, but a tough decision had to be made in regard to my schedule over the next months and the casualties of that decision include my appearances at upcoming festivals in Europe and my opening slot on the European leg of the Coldplay world tour,” said the Odd Future crooner. “Sorry as f**k, I’ll be back if you’ll have me.”

The announcement comes just days after Ocean abruptly walked off the stage at Norway’s Oye Festival after performing four songs. A festival representative told the crowd that he “suddenly got sick and lost his voice.”

Following the release of his critically-acclaimed album channel ORANGE in July, he toured briefly in the U.S. and was scheduled to open for Coldplay through September.

Meek Mill Announces New ‘Dreams & Nightmares’ Release Date

Meek Mill is giving the competition a fright this fall. The Maybach Music MC will release his highly-anticipated debut the day before Halloween.

 Dreams & Nightmares will drop on October 30. It was previously scheduled for an August 28 release. Meek took to Twitter to announce the new date. “Dreams&Nightmares” instores Oct. 30 !!! Eve of Halloween !!!” he wrote.

Rick Ross’ 25-year-old protégé has been building buzz with his Dreamchasers mixtapes and single “Amen” featuring Drake. “I’ma give you the nightmare side, coming up in the streets and actually being in jail…to the dream side of being on tour with Drake and 2 Chainz and Waka Flocka and traveling the world.”

The Philly native is taking his time to ensure that his debut lives up to the hype. “A lot of people been shying away from the real rapping and hip-hop. I’m really representing,” he told WiLD 94.9. “When I come out with my album, I want to have a classic album, an Illmatic, a Hard Knock Life, Get Rich or Die Tryin’ type, a hip-hop album.”

Meek has already received co-signs from superstars including Mariah Carey and Nas, who may appear on the album. “I got my eyes on him. He’s the next one to take this shit over,” the hip-hop icon told All Hip Hop.

Beyoncé gives us a peek into her private life in a new series of photos posted on her Tumblr page. The “Countdown” singer and her sister Solange returned to their hometown of Houston, Texas, with some girlfriends and struck playful poses in front of a food truck, horses, and a private jet.

In the other images, Jay-Z pushes his wife on a swing and B feeds Blue Ivy from a bottle as she sports one of her daddy’s “Watch the Throne” tour T-shirts. Tina Knowles and Roc Nation’s Rita Ora also make appearances.

Police release 911 Call in Chad Johnson Case

The tone is hushed on the 911 emergency phone call that landed former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson in jail – there is no screaming or frantic voices, just a calm next-door neighbor requesting police be dispatched to handle a “little domestic dispute.”

Still, the phone recording – released by police Monday evening – offers further evidence that Johnson’s wife, reality TV star Evelyn Lozada, did indeed suffer noticeable injury during her heated argument with the football star. Lozada accuses Johnson of headbutting her after the couple began feuding over a receipt for condoms that Lozada discovered in Johnson’s car.During the 911 call, the unidentified neighbor tells the operator that Lozada “probably is going to need stitches.” The neighbor can then be heard whispering “wipe yourself” – presumably telling Lozada to attend to her still-open wound.

At one point in the recording, Lozada is heard saying, “he headbutted me.”Johnson gave police a different version of events – telling officers it was his wife who actually headbutted him. Police believed Lozada’s story, however, and arrested the player on a battery domestic violence charge.Johnson bonded out of jail Sunday, and within a few hours was unemployed – the Dolphins had cut him from the team.At 34 years old, Johnson appears to be past his prime physically, and the negative publicity surrounding his arrest could deter any other teams from offering him a contract.

T.I. Takes on Disrespectful Instagramers

Rude posters may have run Solange off Instagram, but they’re not going to get rid of T.I.

After one bold male follower asked Tiny’s daughter Zonnique if it were OK if they could copulate, he had to endure the wrath of T.I.

T.I., using his instagram alias troubleman31, told instagram poster doop_4evr,

“nigga u ever disrespect me & mines like that again I’m gon throw more $$$ at ya head than it cost to build yo mama a new house…Boy don’t f**k your sad a** lil life up before u can get started…u gon get yaself  ‘F**ked’ aight…in ya mouth wit ya own lil pee-pee…Now keep playing round wit it lil homie. #NoBullS**t”

And it didn’t stop there. Tip had more venom for another poster who thought an older picture of his wife Tiny looked cute because it was ‘before she messed her face up.’

T.I. responded to the criticism by saying, 

F**k u shawty!! U ever disrespect me or ain’ 1of mines I’m pressin that line on ya…look like u damaged your waistline. Don’t play wit da fam shawty…It ain’t safe.
