Lauryn Hill, 50 Cent, Diddy, and Nick Cannon gathered to pay their respects to Chris Lighty at a memorial service in New York City on Wednesday. The mourners at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel also included Missy Elliott, Fat Joe, Q-Tip, LL Cool J, Rev. Run, Russell Simmons, Michael Bivens, Wyclef Jean, Grandmaster Flash, and Gayle King. The 44-year-old hip-hop mogul, who founded Violator Management, was found dead in his Bronx apartment last week after an apparent suicide. According to the AP, Lighty was laid to rest in a dark suit, surrounded by white floral arrangements. A slide show depicting his life was shown on screen.
Birthday girl Beyonce rolled to The Michelangelo Restaurant in Antibes to celebrate last night. She rocked her blonde curls, dark lips and a colorful front zipped dress for her 31st b-day. All after spending a fabulous day yachting around the Mediterranean with Jay & Blue.

But the Grammy-winning superstar celebrated the occasion with just her immediate fam: hubby Jay-Z and baby daughter Blue Ivy, 9 months. New photos reveal that the “I Was Here” singer spent her birthday aboard a private yacht cruising through the Mediterranean Sea in the South of France.
Solange traveled to the townships of Cape Town, South Africa over the weekend to shoot her rand new music video for “Losing You.”
About the video shoot, Solange told the Sunday Times:
“The locations for my video will largely be inspired by the color in the architecture and townships around here. We’ll just take a camera and see what happens.”
She also described the “Losing You” track as “eclectic with ’80s references and African percussion influences”.
Expect the video to drop in October, and watch out for Solange’s gorgeous self rocking the upcoming cover of the November 2012 issue of ELLE South Africa.
There was alot to celebrate within the Carter household over the weekend. Jay-Z launched an historic and hugely successful “Made in the America” Festival featuring some of the best acts in music. Roc Nation also celebrated the first UK #1 Album for protege, Rita Ora, and of course Beyonce kicked off her Birthday Weekend.
