True Soul Singer: Kelly Price Back with NEW Song- “TIRED”

*New York, NY – Grammy-nominated R&B powerhouse and songwriter, Kelly Price, is back and set to release her much-anticipated sixth album, Kelly, in February 2011 (Sang Girl/My Block Records).

The album’s explosive lead track, “Tired,” has impacted radio, reaching a Top 30 spot at Urban AC this week.

The soul-stirring track, written by Kelly Price, was produced by Shep Crawford and inspired by a creative heart-to-heart Kelly Price shared with fellow musician and past collaborator, R. Kelly.

The song sheds light on the social ills that were not only causing her distress at the time, but also seemed to be plaguing the world as a whole.

Kelly Price strongly delivers a running list of things that consume her thoughts – from guilty feelings and broken dreams to baby mommas and ghetto dramas.

From the heaviness in the opening verse, “There’s a hole in my heart, my soul is bleeding…” you’ll know exactly where she’s heading and why this song is a guaranteed hit that all can relate to. The album will feature additional production by Warryn Campbell and Jazz Nixon.

In addition to her album preparation, Kelly Price is currently promoting a new remix campaign engaging fans to create the official dance version of her single “Tired.”

From November 5 through December 5, 2010, the singer will directly accept fan submissions for personal consideration and will announce the winner on December 11, 2010. She will provide commentary about submissions through regular video updates throughout the duration of the campaign. The winner of the “Tired” Remix Campaign will earn formal credit for Kelly Price’s official “Tired Remix.”

About Kelly Price
Since making her mark in 1998 with the double-platinum debut, Soul of a Woman, Kelly Price has been a consistent presence on the R&B and Gospel scenes.  Her first single, “Friend of Mine,” was a record-breaking single that made history as the first to garner the #1 spot on the singles chart without an accompanying video clip–a rare feat during the era when music videos were the driving force of popular culture.  She returned to center stage three years later with the platinum-plus seller, Mirror, Mirror, led by her remake of the R&B classic, “As We Lay,” and followed up with the gold-selling holiday collection, One Family:  A Christmas Album in 2001.  Three years after releasing her fourth album, Priceless, she returned to her roots for This Is Whom I Am, a live gospel album recorded at her church home in Long Island.  The album included the uplifting single, “Healing,” which not only reached the top of the gospel charts, but was also credited and awarded at the 2007 ASCAP Awards as one of the top five songs played across both R&B and Gospel genres during 2006.

Jill Scott Goes Back to Philly for a Great Cause!!

*Jill Scott is something like her music, soulful, genuine, loving and unselfish. While the singer is just a busy woman, she finds a little time to go back home and give back.

On Dec. 4, Scott will return to her hometown, Philadelphia, to host the second Blues Babe Foundation fundraiser and silent auction to benefit her nonprofit at the same time.

“Blues Babe has been a blessing in my life and having the means to give back, empower students and communities is an experience like no other,” Scott said.

The event will take place at Material Culture. All proceeds will go toward Camp Jill Scott, Blues Babes Music in the Classroom and the same org’s scholarship fund.

Blues Babe, named for Scott’s grandmother, was launched in 2002 to help students in impoverished communities by providing programs that promote leadership and academic excellence.

The foundation has been involved with various projects and has contributed to some big things in Philly. Blues Babe donated $100,000 to renovate the Cecil B. Moor Recreation Center as well.

Top 10 Bedbug Infestation Spots Beyond the Hotel: Where Are Bedbugs Hanging Out?

You’ve heard all about bedbugs in hotels, but did you know they’re also hiding (and waiting to hitch a ride home with you) in these common public places? Bedbugs are smaller than a grain of rice, but visible to the naked eye. So be on the lookout, and check out the top 10 places to accidentally pick up bedbugs.

Top Picks

Public Libraries

Crawling into bed with a good book has taken on a whole new meaning if you’re borrowing books from the public library system. Before you head home with a stash of bestsellers, check the pages and spines for bedbugs circulating from one reader’s home to the next.

Retail Stores

From clothes to furniture, bedbugs are just waiting for moving day. In the summer of 2010, retail shops around Manhattan were closed for fumigation when bedbugs were found hiding out in the goods. Investigate any possible purchases for unusual stains and shake out clothing before bringing it into the house.

Movie Theaters

You may catch more than a matinee at your local cineplex. With cushy, upholstered seats and plenty of human hosts, the movie theater is prime real estate for bedbugs looking for a meal. Limit the personal belongings you bring with you to avoid bringing home your own critter horror show.

Planes, Trains and Buses

All kinds of people take public transportation, and bedbugs ride for free on planes, trains and buses. Bedbugs are small and hard to detect, so it’s unlikely you’ll see the pests getting cozy in your seat. However, you can take precautions when you return home — don’t place your bags on your bed, and closely inspect your belongings when you unpack.

Daycares, Schools and Colleges

Stuffed animals, cubbies and dorms are incubators for all things gross, and bedbugs are spreading along with the rest of the germs among students and roommates. Kids in daycare share their cots and beloved toys from home. College kids bring home their laundry and bedbugs. Check in with the school director or resident advisor for reports of a bedbug invasion.

Places of Worship

Is nothing sacred? Clearly not for bedbugs who have been known to congregate in the holiest of places including temples, churches and religious meeting halls. Know how to spot a bedbug, and don’t let your guard down, even when offering up a prayer and gathering with like-minded worshippers.

Business Offices

The newest agenda item for many businesses is battling bedbugs that are just as likely to nestle into the carpet or furniture in the boardroom as they are in a bedroom. With clients and packages coming and going, bedbugs may move into an office space traveling on backpacks, briefcases, boxes, business suits or casual Friday clothing.

Laundry Facilities

If you’re sorting and folding in shared spaces, there’s more to worry about than mixing your lights and darks, as bedbugs invade even the cleanest spots in town. Bedbug victims are often instructed to wash and dry infected clothing and personal belongings using extremely high heat. Avoid cross contamination in the laundromat by keeping your dirty laundry to yourself, investigating tables and chairs, and using the hottest washing and drying temperatures possible.

Hospitals and Nursing Homes

Bedbugs don’t discriminate against the sick or the old, and to prove this point, hospitals around the country had to quarantine patient rooms and triage centers in late summer and fall 2010 to deal with bedbugs. You won’t likely have time to investigate beds and furniture if you get sick, but rest assured, bedbugs do not carry or spread disease.

Consignment, Thrift Shops and Yard Sales

Forgo the bargain-hunting and splurge on new goods to avoid bringing home bedbugs. If you just can’t pass up a sale, at least try to stay away from used mattresses, bed frames and headboards. You may save money, but professional treatment for a bedbug infestation can set you back thousands of dollars.

Jack Johnson and Wife Nabbed by FBI for Evidence Tampering and Destruction of Evidence

In the ongoing adventures of Jack Johnson, Prince George’s County Executive, federal authorities picked up both the county executive and his wife, on destruction of evidence and evidence tampering, during the initial phase of the investigation. Jack Johnson had little to no people who could straddle a fence about him. Folks either love him for his beguilement, energy, and charm. Or, they hate him as the personification of a politico enjoying graft by way of hiring “friends” to do government jobs and arrangements with developers.

The Washington Post covers how both Jack and Mrs Leslie Johnson landed in the hoosegow. The FBI had already been watching the couple, and had them under wiretap when the Feds came calling. According to the online newspaper’s accounting, Leslie Johnson called Hubby for advice when agents appeared at the family door.

Before Jack or Leslie Johnson even spoke with agents, they sunk themselves.
With federal agents tapping the line, Jack Johnson instructed his wife what he wanted done with evidence of payments like cash, and where to find and flush the check from one particular realtor. With that, the two had acted in cahoots to cover up any suspicious activity before answering the door to the FBI. Authorities and investigators had already been observing and monitoring the politician-on-the-take for some time. These recent actions merely give investigators probable cause to look into everything else possible.

Should County Executive Jack Johnson go to prison?
US Attorney Rod Rosenstein added the recent arrests are likely only “the tip of the iceberg.” And to “expect defendants and additional charges.” If Prince George’s Jack Johnson, County Executive does find himself in trouble, should he do time? Or, do you feel mere expulsion of office to be enough punishment? Does Jack Johnson affect your attitude towards politicians?

Kanye West Media Trainer Quits??!

Kanye West Media Trainer Quits After Disastrous ‘Today’ Interview

According to The New York Post, Kanye West‘s media trainer Susie Arons has quit after only three days on the job following his interview on the “Today”  show with Matt Lauer.

As previously reported, Lauer seemed to have went on a personal  attack and proceeded to be former President George W. Bush’s bodyguard in the interview.

According to The Post, Kanye’s camp  hired Susie Arons on Monday, an executive vice president at Rubenstein Communications, for help handling the interview. Collectively, they agreed West should cancel the interview, and it was called off Monday night.

But on Tuesday morning, Arons was notified that West was waiting at NBC’s Rockefeller Center studio for the Lauer chat, and she rushed over at West’s request.

According to a show insider, “West shut himself in a dressing room with Susie, and could be heard rehearsing possible questions and answers. But the interview began, and it was as though he had crammed for a test and then his mind went blank.”

As seen around the world, Ye became frustrated around the questions which were obviously brought up to promote the former President’s  new book which he seems to have lifted from pages of previous published books by his subordinates according to The Huffington Post… Go figure.

The NY Post also reports that when  Lauer and West took a break, West “huddled again with the media trainer because he still hadn’t found a way to express himself,” said our source. The disastrous interview aired Thursday, and Arons resigned from working with him yesterday morning.

Despite the media sabotage and backlash, Kanye’s new album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” drops November 22nd and is already being heralded as a classic.
