Lauryn Hill Speaks Out About Nicki Minaj and Hot 97 Drama…Clears Her Name

Lauryn Hill hopped on twitter today, to clear up rumors that she was initially suppose to come out on stage as part of Nicki Minaj’s set, as well as to state her two cents on everything that transpired. She wrote:

No disrespect to Nicki, but I need to clear up an inaccuracy. I was not scheduled to be a special guest on her set at Summer Jam, I was invited by Nas to perform with him. I don’t have details on exactly what transpired between the station and the artists, but I do support artists standing by their beliefs, and walking with integrity. We have to find a better way to commercially exploit music, while giving artists their proper respect. This cannot be done while taking their contributions for granted, or trying to control the scope of their growth and power through threats and fear tactics. We can do better than this, there is a better way, or else ‘we’ (the proverbial we) find ourselves in danger of being hypocrites!!!

Nicki Minaj and Foxy Brown Bond in the Big Apple

Nicki Minaj did not get to touch down on the Summer Jam stage, but that didn’t stop her from having a good time.  The Harajuku Barbie kicked it with fellow femcee Foxy Brown, as well as her collaborators Cam’ron and Beenie Man in NYC on Sunday.  She had hinted of a historic performance involving these artists plus Lauryn Hill, Nas, 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, Birdman, Tyga, Jae Millz, and Gudda Gudda.

“History will be made @ Hot97 Summer Jam tonight. I really hope you’re there to witness it,” she tweeted before her plans changed.  “Wow. U ni**az just fucked up history. But the President has spoken.”

Foxy has shown love to Nicki in the past.  “I think she’s doing an incredible job of branding herself,” she previously told MTV News.  “When you’re a boss bitch, you give it up. Send her a Chanel bag or something. If you’re winning, you’re winning. That’s just how I see it.”

Nicki Minaj Pulls Out of Hot 97 Summer Jam

With only hours to go before she was set to headline Hot 97 Summer Jam in New Jersey, Nicki Minaj has pulled out of the lineup. On-air personality Peter Rosenberg dissed her earlier in the day, which caused Lil Wayne to make the executive decision to cancel her appearance.

“Young Money ain’t doing summer jam,” tweeted Weezy as Tyga hit the stage.

Nicki respected her Young Money boss’ wishes and decided not to perform. “Wow. U niggaz just fucked up history. But the President has spoken,” she said. “I go above and beyond for my fans. But won’t ever go against wayne’s word. What he says, goes.”

Cash Money’s DJ Khaled was also part of the lineup, but it’s currently unknown if he will hit the stage.

Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland Watch The Throne Perform in Paris

The “Watch the Throne” tour pulled into Paris on Friday night with some famous fans in tow. Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Justin Bieber, The-Dream, and Gwyneth Paltrow threw their diamonds in the sky as Jay-Z and Kanye West took the stage for the first of two shows at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy. The hip-hop duo performed their hit “Ni**as in Paris” a record 11 times as the song’s producer Hit-Boy crowd surfed.

“HOV didn’t just really call me on stage in Paris to crowd surf,” tweeted the hitmaker. “The Roc family is too real. I’m the 2nd person only to ever grace WTT stage.”

Always Something!! Sister 2 Sister Magazine Calls Tami Roman A Liar

Just when Basketball Wives star Tami Roman thought she back in the public’s good graces, a magazine outs her as a liar. During the final confrontation Jennifer Williams had with Evelyn Lozada on Basketball Wives, Tami Roman and Shaunie O’Neal, Tami said she had the transcripts of an interview Jennifer did with Sister 2 Sister Magazine where she made negative comments about Evelyn and relationship with NFL star Chad Ochocinco. Sister 2 Sister released a statement refuting all claims Tami made in the episode.

The magazine owned and operated by Jamie Foster Brown posted a message on their site:

‘Sister 2 Sister’ did not send out transcript of conversation with Jennifer Williams Contrary to what you may have heard, Sister 2 Sister did not send a transcript to a member of the “Basketball Wives” cast.

On the season 4 finale of “Basketball Wives” it was implied that Sister 2 Sister gave Tami Roman a transcript of a conversation that Publisher Jamie Foster Brown had with Tami’s co-star Jennifer Williams. We would like to state that those accusations are wrong.

There is no transcript of the exchange that we believe Tami is talking about at the 14:25 mark.

We never had that talk typed out because it was off the record. Simply put, Tami could not have read a copy of the chat because it does not exist.

S2S did post a story that included comments Jennifer made during her exchange with Jamie, which was republished by a number of sites. It is possible that Tami was referring to one of those postings. We would also like to inform our readers that Tami is no longer writing an advice column for our magazine. The last edition of “Ask Tami & Lyric” is in the June 2012 issue of Sister 2 Sister.
