“Underground” Creator Announces that the Groundbreaking Series Will Not Continue…Ever

If you were a fan of the hit series “Underground,” well sad news below. The show creator, Misha Green has confirmed the show still has not been picked up by another network since the WGN network did not renew the period series.

“Underground,” which told the story of the Macon 7, who were runaway slaves on their quest to freedom; was a story of triumph and resilience. A story about slavery that still needs to be told and heard. Of course a network would choose not to pick it back up. Yes, I understand that period pieces are often more expensive to film considering costumes, set design and other expenses to create such a period in time. But there are enough resources out here to pull together and make it happen if people really wanted to.

John Legend, one of the executive producers even sought out Oprah and her OWN network to help fund the continuation. However, they cited not have the funds due to their own big production of “Queen Sugar.”

Hopefully, someone will see the importance of “Underground,” and quickly get it back into production. In the meantime take a look at the message Misha Green posted:

Meek Mill Sentenced to A Minimum of 2-4 Years for Violation of Probation

Meek Mill has been sentenced by a Philadelphia judge to two to four years in state prison for violating probation in a nearly decade old gun and drug case.

People are in an uproar from the announcement of the unseemingly unfair and unjust sentence. Judge Brinkley cited a failed drug test and a failure to comply with a court order restricting his travel. Mill was originally arrested in 2008 and convicted of drug dealing and gun possession. He spent eight months in prison.

Many celebrities have spoken out against the sentence. Jay Z who rarely speaks out made it his business to post something in support of Meek. He posted:We pray for Meek and his family during this difficult time and hope that justice will prevail. It is clear that this particular judge is trying to make an example out of the situation. However, you have other rats who get off for hanice crimes and don’t even get charged for anything i.e. cops killing black men/women/children….
