Mariah Carey Pulling a Beyonce

Mariah Carey plans to drop her next album in full digitally and by surprise just like Beyonce.

Late last year Beyonce reinvigorated the music industry after forgoing the industry standard of dropping singles to promote her album, instead releasing it in full and by surprise on iTunes, spending 3 weeks at No.1.

Mariah Carey hopes the same formula will work for her.

Mariah tells Billboard Magazine,

“You would think I would be all about the singles-driven situation, and I am in a way, but with this particular album I want my fans to hear it as a body of work.”

The release date is, obviously, a secret.

Earlier this week it was reported that Master P’s estranged wife Sonya was seeking a $67 million divorce settlement after 24 years of marriage. Sonya and Master P’s son Romeo doesn’t think she deserves It.

In an impromptu interview Romeo tells TMZ,

Honestly, I love my mom to death, but I mean — we gotta just work out some things. She gotta be a better parent, y’know.”

Columbus Short Fired From Scandal

Now we know what happens to Harrison in the season cliff hanger of Scandal.  Columbus Short confirms he will not be returning to the blockbuster series.  In a statement to the media Columbus explains,

“At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful.”

Over the past few weeks Columbus Short has been involved in a series of violent and bizarre incidents including sucker punching a bar patron, threatening to kill his wife and calling Tom Joyner a nigga live on the radio for asking him about his recent legal issues.

Artist Spotlight: #RIP Akil Nadir (Claude Lumpkins) DC Hip-Hop Extraordinaire

Unfortunately, on Friday, April 11th, 2014,  a genuine, down to earth, fellow artist, lyricist, MC, Father, and friend departed this earth.   They say the good die young but also the creative geniuses of the world.  His music touched many and inspired a plethora of artists and like minded individuals especially in the Washington, DC area. His kind and humorous demeanor would have you in tears but brought the kind of joy that would make anyone smile. I dedicate this blog post to Claude and to spread his message of peace and consciousness.  We must take the time out to uplift and reach out to our fellow brethren who may or may not be going through the struggle.  It is our duty to lend helping hands when our loved ones are in need and to continue to support them no matter what!!  Sometimes we don’t know the personal battles that people go through, which is why it even more important to wholeheartedly love one another without judgement and pray for one another.  For those who didn’t know Claude, check some of his music and links out below.  REST IN POWER BROTHER!!

Akil Nadir was a Washington, DC native who spent his teenage years immersed in the city’s burgeoning hip hop scene, popping in and out of street corner ciphers and performing in night clubs in the historic U Street neighborhood. He gained a reputation for being fiery and unpredictable with a work ethic that defied his age. After graduating from Duke Ellington School of the Arts, he attended North Carolina Central University in Durham―classmates with Foreign Exchange members Phonte and Yahzarah―and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. Soon after graduation he returned to his hometown and discovered his second passion, education. He has been teaching English in DC ever since―eventually earning a Master of Science in Educational Administration―but has never given up on his first love. He has enjoyed some modest popularity over the years as an independent artist, but he remains one of the capital city’s best kept secrets. His style is a healthy combination of bravado, consciousness and humor. It seems like an impossible balancing act, but he pulls it off effortlessly. In the end, it feels like someone crammed all your favorite emcees into one body, taught it to read and then let it loose on the world.

Details from Game and Tiffney Cambridge Altercation

Last week rapper Game was slapped with a restraining order and banned from having any contact or coming within 100 feet of his baby mama Tiffney Cambridge.

Details from their initial confrontation have leaked and they are not pretty.

From TMZ

Cambridge says in her docs the fight turned so violent, a table broke, injuring both kids. She says their 3-year-old daughter yelled for help because her leg was bleeding … and Game got even more ferocious when Cambridge went to help her.

According to the docs, he told Cambridge, “Move the f*** out the way” and called her a bitch while tearing her clothing and repeatedly hitting her torso with his closed fist. She claims he also yelled, “I will end it all.”

Cambridge says after the fight … Game refused to let her leave … telling the children that if Mommy called police, both Mommy and Daddy would go to jail.

She says Game eventually allowed her to take the kids and go. She went to the hospital the next day, where she says she learned her nose was broken.
