Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz List SoHo Penthouse for $18 Million

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz have outgrown their love nest. The power couple is putting their New York penthouse on the market for a whopping $17,950,000. The luxurious 6,167-square-foot triplex features 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, and 4 powder rooms. They acquired the pre-war condo from Lenny Kravitz in February 2010 for $12,750,000.

Step inside and you’ll find gorgeous terrace views of SoHo, a private wine cellar, master suite with spa, gourmet eat-in kitchen, and floating glass staircase.

The music duo’s pricey art collection adorns the walls, with portraits of pop culture icons including Muhammad Ali, Sade, and Alicia herself. But don’t expect those to come with the house.

CPS Files: What Causes A Parent To Hurt Their Child? Mother Shoots 3 Children and Then Kills Herself

All four had sustained one gunshot wound each. It is believed the mother shot her children before turning the gun on herself. A handgun was found close to the bodies.

Attention: 1.5 Million Undiagnosed Chlamydia Cases Annually According to CDC

Know what your getting into literally!!!

More than half of all chlamydia cases go undiagnosed, according to a new analysis by the Centers for Disease Control. Just over a third of sexually active women between the ages of 15 and 25, the age group most at risk, get tested annually as the CDC recommends. Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted disease, with 1.3 million diagnosed cased in 2010. The CDC estimates the actual number of new infections is closer to 2.8 million annually. “Testing rates are far too low across the board,” says Karen Hoover, a medical epidemiologist with the CDC. “First and foremost, we have to do more to ensure health care providers know sexually active women should be screened every year.” The good news, Hoover says, is that nearly half of women with multiple sexual partners, who are most likely to be exposed to the disease, get tested annually. The disease can be easily treated with antibiotics, she says. Among women who were treated for chlamydia, less than a quarter were retested within six months as the CDC recommends. About 16 percent of women are expected to be reinfected in that time frame. “Re-infection is common because of untreated infection in their partners,” says Kelly Opdyke, who studied retesting rates for the CDC “A substantial number of reinfections may be missed.”

Women infected with chlamydia often live symptom-free for several years, but the disease can cause potentially fatal ectopic pregnancies, infertility, and pelvic pain in the long-term. In men, the disease often causes painful urination.

Hoover says a future analysis may examine testing rates in men, but the CDC doesn’t currently recommend annual screenings for men, because there are rarely long-term complications associated with the disease.

Oprah Winfrey Network Lays off One-Fifth of Staff

Oprah Winfrey’s struggling television network, OWN, said Monday it is laying off one-fifth of its workers and restructuring its operations in New York and Los Angeles. The decision to let 30 employees go is a “tough” one, but the economics of a start-up cable network didn’t fit with OWN’s cost structure, Winfrey said in a statement. “As CEO, I have a responsibility to chart the course for long-term success for the network. To wholly achieve that long-term success, this was a necessary next step,” Winfrey said. The responsibilities of the laid-off workers will be distributed among people with the network and its venture partners, Discovery Communications and Winfrey’s Harpo Studios, according to OWN. The cable channel, which launched Jan. 1, 2011, endured a freshman year of executive turnover and missteps that proved OWN lacked a solid foundation on which to build. This was despite a Discovery Communications investment of a reported $250 million and counting. Discovery executives will take a more active role in the channel, according to the announcement.

Behind the Video: M.I.A.- ‘Bad Girls’

M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls” video earned praise from everyone from Rihanna to Tyler, the Creator upon its release last month. Now the pop rebel takes us behind the scenes of the brilliant clip, shot in Ouarzazate, Morocco. Director Romain Gavras drew inspiration for the high-speed scenes by watching YouTube videos of Saudis drifting on two wheels.

“Maya and I have had this video concept in mind for a while since we’ve worked on ‘Born Free,’” said Gavras. “We stumbled upon these videos on YouTube. We were mesmerized.”

M.I.A. added, “It was like the coolest shit I had ever seen.”

“The idea was to compile Arabic references—fantasized or not—into a pop video,” explained Gavras. “Pop videos usually show American kids in their element. Here you got Arab kids in an insane car rodeo element.”

The documentary-style clip includes commentary from the stunt car drivers, crew, and local residents who were on set.

Gavras acknowledges that it will be hard to top himself. “It will be hard to make something as grandiose as this. Next video needs to be shot on the moon.”

Solange Opens up about Being Married at 17, Her Love for Blue Ivy, and why She Enjoys Being an Independent Artist

Solange has never been one to hold anything back when it comes to her personal life and family.  She recently sat down and took some glamorus pics for London’s Evening Standard magazine.  She opens up about loving being an independent artist, to Beyonce and Blue Ivy, why good sex is important, even getting married and having a baby by the age of 18.  Check out some excerpts:

On Getting Pregnant & Settling Down at 17-Years-Old
“I just loved being at home and being domestic,’ she says. ‘We would have gotten married for sure anyway, but then I found out I was pregnant. We were crazy, impulsive teenagers and I was obviously craving some sort of stability. [My family] were alarmed and frightened that their 17-year-old daughter wanted to get married and have a kid, but I’d been working since I was 13. I was making my own money. I wasn’t really asking permission, and once they found out I was serious about it, they were supportive and amazing.’

On Her Close Relationship With Beyonce
[Kelly Rowland’s] mother was a nanny for another family, so Kelly lived with us when they first moved from Atlanta. She was like a second sister. It definitely was tough, having your sister have a built-in BFF, and me being five years younger. But my sister was very protective of me, and we were very sweet with each other. I’m sure if we were closer in age we wouldn’t have gotten along so great. But we’ve been super-close ever since I was about 13.”

On First Telling Her Father She Wanted to Be a Singer & An Unsuccessful First Album
“And he told my mother, who said, ‘Oh, no. We don’t want you doing this, too. You can do anything in the world! You’re so smart.’ I think she was nervous about me losing my childhood. My sister started at such a young age that this was her life for as long as she could remember. From a very early age I decided that I wanted to be able to do my music but still be able to live a normal life. I went into the meeting [with Columbia] and said, ‘I want it to be clear that I want to write all of my music. I want to have control of that.’ I had grown up around this.” After a disagreement with the label, Solange had to promote the album, Solo Star, on her own. “I didn’t care. I didn’t need the money…” She pauses. “It wasn’t very successful.”

On Her Second Album Not Being Received Well
“I’d have to time it around the baby’s naps,” she says. “And make sure he wasn’t crying in the background on demos. [I wrote] all of these Sixties songs… I would send them to my publisher [EMI] and would check every day if someone was interested. This was before the retro vibe of Amy Winehouse and Adele… they were not very well received.”

On Why She’s Not on a Label
“I don’t think there’s a need if you are able to fund it yourself and have a strong sense of development as an artist. It means you aren’t dependent on some A&R dude to position you with writers or producers or figure out your next direction. Major labels act as banks in terms of how they produce and release your album. No major label is really good or bad, they just 100 per cent operate as a business, which makes sense… no hard feelings.”

On The “Sexual Vibe”of Her Next Album (Summer 2012)
“There’s a lot of sexual vibes on it. I think I just finally started having good sex. This woman came up to me the other day and said, “You know, I think people dress a lot better when they’re in love with themselves, with other people, or with where their life is.”

On Having a Private Life, Especially With Blue Ivy
“I think there’s a way to protect yourself. I think the fact that I live here is very helpful. It’s about working it and not letting it work you, about being very selective about what you do and who you do it with.”

On if she gets to see Beyonce and Blue Ivy a lot
Yes. Actually, I invited them over for dinner tonight. I’m excited to see her; I haven’t seen her in a week and half.’ She wraps her coat around her, bracing against the weather. “You know, my sister and I truly are best friends.
