Warrant Issued for Bow Wow’s Arrest

Bow Wow’s money troubles just took a turn for the worst. A judge in Georgia just ordered Bow Wow’s arrest for blowing off a 2009 judgment against him for $100,000…

From TMZ

Bow Wow has avoided a civil lawsuit for long enough — and now a judge in Georgia has ordered he be arrested and held in custody until produces documents and information to the other side.

Bow Wow was ordered by a Tennessee court back in 2009 to pay almost $100,000 to a tour bus company for allegedly not paying his bill. The company then took the case to Georgia to try and get the court where Bow Wow lives to enforce the judgment.

He was ordered to produce documents in his home state regarding the lawsuit, which he never did. As a result, the tour company filed a motion to have the rapper held in contempt.

Finally back in October, the judge granted the motion and ordered Bow Wow be arrested and held until he produces the necessary documents the tour bus company asked for.

Bow Wow has not been taken into custody so far, or responded to the lawsuit.

Calls to Bow Wow’s reps were not returned.

The brother of New York Knicks star Amare Stoudemire died in a car accident early Monday morning in Florida, a team spokesman confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com.

The Florida Highway Patrol issued a report that said Hazell Stoudemire was driving a Cadillac Escalade north on U.S. 27 in Lake Wales, Fla., at a high rate of speed and collided with the rear of a tractor trailer at 1:42 a.m. ET. The report said that the 35-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt and was declared dead at the scene. Police are awaiting test results to see if alcohol was involved in the accident.

The team said that Stoudemire was traveling to Florida to be with his family and would not be with the team for Monday night’s game against the Jazz in New York. The team did not know when he will return. Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni said Stoudemire can take “whatever time he needs to take” before returning to the team.

Following the Knicks’ 99-88 win against Utah, Stoudemire tweeted: “Even though I’m going through hard times right now. #SadDay Great job tonight team (Knicks ). Jermeny Lin that’s how we play. Ya boy SunTzu.”

The Knicks travel to Washington to play the Wizards on Wednesday and return home to host the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.

“I know he’s very close to his brother so my heart’s out for him,” D’Antoni said after the team’s shootaround on Monday, adding, “He cherishes his family, he does a great job of maintaining all the relationships. Like I said, this is just a trying moment for him.”

D’Antoni has communicated with Stoudemire through text messages but has yet to speak with the star power forward. Reserve Jared Jeffries started in place of Stoudemire on Monday against Utah.

“My thoughts and prayers and everything’s with him,” said D’Antoni, who also coached Stoudemire in Phoenix for the first six years of his career. “Whatever time he needs to take, he’ll take and we’ll get him back as soon as possible.”

Amare Stoudemire is a former Mr. Basketball in Florida and went straight to the NBA out of high school. He grew up in the Lake Wales area, which is in central Florida.

Jay-Z Makes History with Nas, Alicia Keys at Carnegie Hall

Jay-Z made a triumphant return to the stage with his first of two sold-out shows at New York’s historic Carnegie Hall on Monday night (Feb. 6). Accompanied by a 36-piece orchestra, the new father entered in a white tuxedo jacket and black bow tie to a standing ovation. He kicked off the evening with “PSA” and “Thank You” before introducing the orchestra’s female conductor and segueing into “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love).”

Brooklyn’s own paid homage to his city with Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” and Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” and referenced Gil Scott-Heron’s “New York Is Killing Me.” An elegant Alicia Keys held court with Hov for their Big Apple anthem “Empire State of Mind” and Jay joined his fellow New Yorker Nas for “N.Y. State of Mind.” Alicia returned to duet with Nas on “If I Ruled the World (Imagine That).”

“I didn’t think I was gonna make it through that one. That was tough,” Hov told concertgoers after performing “Glory,” his touching dedication to his daughter Blue Ivy Carter.

After changing into a more comfortable black jeans and tee, he delivered classics including “Big Pimpin’” and “Jigga” and brought out Roc Nation singer Bridget Kelly for “Young Forever.” Ninety minutes later, he made a grand exit through the balcony. New Music: Brandy & Monica – ‘It All Belongs to Me’

Fourteen years after topping the charts with“The Boy Is Mine,” Brandy and Monica reunite on the highly-anticipated follow-up, “It All Belongs to Me.” Described by producer Rico Love as a “very soulful R&B song with pop sensibilities,” the ladies take a different approach from their 1998 single, kicking their men to the curb on the empowering tune.

“It is not anything like ‘The Boy Is Mine,’” explained Monica. “At this point, this is where you’re taking your power back and we gon’ come together. This is totally different than that era and I hope it speaks to all the people who are making diss tracks and going hard on each other. Come together and watch the numbers move.”

Brandy added, “This business is all about competition. They forgot about what is the most important, which is two talents coming together. It’s just great to come back and do something with [Monica]. This is definitely a blessing.”

Two different versions of the song will appear on Monica’s album New Life, due Apri 10, and Brandy’s RCA/Chameleon debut, due this spring. A video, directed by Chris Robinson, will be shot on February 13.

Drake Denies ‘Wrongful Conduct’ in ‘Marvin’s Room’ Lawsuit

Drake has responded to a lawsuit filed by a purported ex-girlfriend over her contributions to the song “Marvin’s Room.”

“This claim is entirely without merit and our client has not engaged in any wrongful conduct,” a spokesperson for the rapper told The Hollywood Reporter. “Ericka Lee consented to the use of her voice in the song ‘Marvin’s Room’ prior to its release.

Lee asked only for the credit she received as ‘Syren Lyric Muse,’ and she did not ask for any compensation. It was only after she retained a lawyer that there was a demand for payment. Drake tried for months to resolve the matter amicably, and he now looks forward to being vindicated in court.”

Previously, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Lee had filed a suit, coming forward as the voice of the young woman on the viral hit.

Lee claims she was asked to record the track’s opening monologue and hook and would be paid 50% of the song’s proceeds. She claimed to have received several text messages from Drake citing her contribution to the song as well as lesser monetary offers. According to Lee, she and the Cash Money rapper had a romantic relationship as well, which went south after the song’s recording. Among other requests, her suit asks that she be named a co-writer on the song.

“Marvin’s Room,” a single that advanced 2011’s “Take Care” album release, became a YouTube hit, scoring over 39 million views.

More Artists Join Dr. Cornel West, Jesse Jackson In Fight Against Grammys Over Eliminated Categories

Educators/activists/rapper Dr. Cornel West and the Rev. Jesse Jackson are leading a group of artists and executives who are demanding cultural diversity from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS).

NARAS is the organization that produces the annual Grammy Awards, which honors the top performing music artists, producers and engineers, in a variety of categories.

But The Grammys has been under fire for sweeping changes the organization has made to the categories.

Dr. West and Rev. Jesse Jackson are working with artists/organizations like Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Grammywatch.org and now, Presente.org, in the battle to restore diversity to The Grammys.

Presente.org, which is the largest online Latino advocacy organization in the U.S., has joined in the growing criticism of The Grammys.

The artists and activists are upset that NARAS eliminated a number of categories, comprised mostly of ethnic music.

Categories like Gospel, R&B, Traditional and Contemporary Jazz, Latin Jazz, Traditional and Contemporary Blues, Cajun/Zydeco, Polka, Mexican Norteña, Native American and Hawaiian music have been eliminated.

To make matters worse, the activists say the changes were done without the knowledge of the organizations 21,000 members.

“Neal Portnow and the big bosses at the Grammys have committed a deplorable act of greed and racial discrimination by deleting music categories that are so central to the lives of so many,” Presente.org Executive Director, Arturo Carmona, said. “Portnow and the Grammys have nothing to celebrate and deserve an lifetime achievement award for putting profit over people. We are honored and highly motivated to join the fight to re-institute the deleted categories on behalf of the millions who love Latin jazz, Gospel, R&B and other musical genres.”

Over the past year, the Grammys have come under fire for their alleged lack of diversity in honoring all forms of music.
