Shoe Designer Christian Louboutin Sues Yves Saint Laurent for Red Soled Concept

VIA: WWD

Paris-based designer Christian Louboutin, whose pumps have graced many fabulous and famous feet, sued fashion rival Yves Saint Laurent over the use of the color red on shoe soles. “Mr. Louboutin is the first designer to develop the idea of having red soles on women’s shoes,” said the trademark infringement lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court on Thursday.

Since January, Louboutin said in the suit, he has asked luxury company Yves Saint Laurent America, a subsidiary of the Gucci Group, to stop selling red-soled shoes in the same select Manhattan stores as he does. “Defendants’ use of red footwear outsoles that are virtually identical to plaintiffs’ Red Sole Mark is likely to cause and is causing confusion, mistake and deception among the relevant purchasing public,” the suit said.

The suit asks for a U.S. judge to impose $1 million in damages and order YSL to stop manufacturing similar designs. The Gucci Group was not available for comment and the U.S. branch of Yves Saint Laurent declined comment on the lawsuit. Since shortly after Louboutin founded his first boutique in 1991 in Paris, the suit said, all his shoes have had red-lacquered soles. They can fetch more than $1,000 a pair.

“The Red Sole has become synonymous with Christian Louboutin and high fashion,” it said, adding that Louboutin had trademarked the design in the United States in 2008.

Lil Wayne Calls Porcelain Black the ‘Baddest Bitch in the Game’

Lil Wayne knows a bad chick when he sees one. The Young Money chief is convinced that Porcelain Black is the next big thing, praising the glam rocker while on set of her video for “This Is What Rock N Roll Look Like.”

“The baddest bitch in the game, you feel me?” said Weezy, who appears in both the video and on the single. “I said it, you dig? And I’m aight, too.”

The 25-year-old Detroit native, who is currently opening on the “I Am Music II” tour, explained that the single is for anyone who’s ever been bullied or treated like an outcast. “I think that was a really important song for us to be the first single because it’s a good message, but it’s badass as f**k at the same time and there’s lots of kids out there that got picked on growing up,” she said. “You gotta embrace who you are and never be ashamed of who you are. It’s important to be creative. It’s important to be different.”

Porcelain is currently working on her Universal Republic debut with producer RedOne. Go behind the scenes of her video below.

Gucci Mane Arrested for Allegedly Pushing Woman Out of Vehicle

Gucci Mane can’t shake the legal drama. The Atlanta rapper was arrested by the DeKalb County Fugitive Squad earlier today during a visit to his probation officer at the Georgia Department of Corrections Probation Office.

According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the Brick Squad MC, born Radric Davis, was charged with misdemeanor battery after a warrant was issued following an incident where he allegedly pushed a female out of a moving vehicle, causing her bodily harm. While the misdemeanor charge would normally be less severe, authorities are considering the violent act as a violation of his probation stemming from previous charges. If convicted, he could return to jail.

Gucci found himself in a similar situation in 2009 after he was arrested for violating his probation for failing to complete 600 hours of community service. After serving part of his 12-month sentence, he was again arrested in December 2010 on gang-related charges.

Toni was hesitant about doing the show at first, but gave in after convincing from her youngest sister Tamar. “She said you should tell your story because they know you as an artist, but they don’t know you as a sister and a mom and a friend, and you should expose that side,” she told “Access Hollywood.”
